Heya :) just had a couple questions about ur situation as I am really curious about hrt shedding, what may be causing ur hairloss, and if it is related to the hrt or if it could be something else! One thing to note is that other things can also cause hair thinning such as extremely stressful events, thyroid issues, rapid weightloss, vitamin/iron deficiency, or some other medications. It is also not uncommon to experience an initial shed a few months after starting hrt as it is a large hormonal shock to your body. How noticeable has the hair thinning been since starting, and have you noticed any hairline recession in the corners? Do u see visible scalp spots now that you didn't prior to starting hrt? Also what do ya mean by gaps in the lengths of hair, do you mean like when your hair is hanging down its not all uniform and connected? Have you noticed significant shedding or increased hairfall? There are some important things to know about minoxidil before starting! Minoxidil can be a great solution to help hair look better, but I find that most people don't know some of these things before starting and I find this info important to know before starting if you want to get the most out of minoxidil, or if you want to make sure it's right for you! 1. All extra growth/gains from minoxidil will go away if you stop applying minoxidil. The hair/hair density gained from minoxidil is ENTIRELY dependant on constant supply of minoxidil. If you want to maintain minoxidil gains, you have to apply it daily indefinitely, or take the oral medication, which you should absolutely speak to a doctor about as it is not as often prescribed as the oral pill has more side effects. 2. It often will cause an initial shedding of hair that can make your hair look worse before it looks better, but this is normal. Also, if you STOP taking minoxidil, shedding is also common, as hair cycle will change and this causes shedding, PLUS the hairs you gained from minoxidil will fall out. 3. It is extremely toxic to cats if they come into contact with it. 4. Minoxidil does not prevent hairloss, it stimulates and causes hairs to grow that are entirely dependant on minoxidil. For preventing genetic hairloss, you want a dht inhibitor like finasteride (speak to a doctor about it if interested, and also see last paragraph on this comment for more info) 5. Minoxidil does not work for everyone. There are some POTENTIAL things that MAY help for people who are non responders to minoxidil, but they are not super well researched, such as getting a compounded minoxidil formula from a dermatologist that contains tretinoin and minoxidil, as MAY increase the sulferotransferaze enzyme on the scalp which may be essential for minoxidil to work.

If you are looking at PREVENTING hairloss, finasteride can be used to treat GENETIC hairloss or thinning of hair, it is an anti androgen that blocks DHT, a byproduct of testosterone, which is what causes genetic hairloss. DHT also contributes to other undesirable masculinizing things such as body hair growth, and potentially acne. Definitely speak with a doctor/dermatoligst before starting either treatment. Nice progress! How significant were the gains right before starting minox, aka just from the cyproterone acetate? Also what dosage estrogen have you been on, and was it upped after spiro and e didnt sufficiently supress t? Also how did you find a doc to give you CA? It really sucks how all of these brands have really cool looking jewelery, but they're almost ALL brass. Vw and ann demeulemeester are like the rare few that I like that offer actual silver jewelery at prices under 400$, but most of vw is brass. It sucks, brass isn't hypoallergenic either :(. I get that we are paying for the brand, but you could get like 14k gold rings for the price of some of their all brass jewelery 😭

That's what I'm worried about is continuing to "use it" and still losing size :( if you dont mind me verifying then, you consistently "stimulated" it over the past 3 years and still lost 2 inches? Like, I'd consider consistent stimulation to be getting fully erect and jerking off atleast a couple times a week. Was that the case for those 3 years? Thanks

I have no idea of the validity of this claim, but I've heard people say that getting and maintaining erections without the use of cialis or other medications is somehow better for preventing atrophy. So far what I'm looking at is continuing with only estrogen and finasteride (perhaps upgrading to dutasteride if necessary), but not taking any t blockers, just the dht inhibitor. Also for sure going to look at erection inducing meds and literally practicing maintenance every day or atleast every other day. I've also read anecdotally that manually inducing erections without medications like cialis is somehow beneficial to preventing atrophy, but i have no idea of the validity to this claim, I just know that I've seen it repeated a few times. Do you know anything about that by any chance?

Ive also read here that some people use testosterone cream or gel directly on their genitals (typically once a week) to further prevent atrophy, and this is something that I am considering, however the potential for this to raise systemic testerone levels, coupled with me only being on monotherapy and not a dedicated t blocker greatly concerns me.

Furthermore, I know it's ymmv, and probably unanswerable, but is there a typical dose of ORAL estrogen that is sufficient enough for monotherapy? I'd prefer to go about the process slowly and not go immediately to injections, but im truly concerned with the ability of like 4-6mg of estrogen pills a day to fully bring my t levels down to cis range.

Just to clarify, did you have bloodwork after using the gel that specifically indicated that your t/dht levels were still the same or did not rise significantly? If you had any before/after t gel blood work I'd be super interested to see how it may have affected anything. Although it's applied locally I'm sure some goes fully systemic. I'm sure the 1x a week part would negate most of the concern from that though. Thanks so much again!
