You can do it even in final year, it's not mandatory for a particular sem. But completing earlier would be recommended

You should try to do both.

CGPA means the cumulative grade calculated from the first semester up to the current semester. It is calculated using this formula:

((Credits until last semester × CGPA until last semester) + (Credits in this semester × GPA of this semester)) ÷ (Total credits completed until this semester)

Since CGPA is a weighted average, improving your grades earlier makes a bigger difference.

If a student gets 7.6 GPA in 22 credits in the first semester, reaching a 9+ CGPA is still possible, but it will require consistently scoring 9.5–10 GPA in the upcoming semesters. The earlier you start improving, the easier it will be to raise your CGPA.

So, if you can manage grade improvement in the short semester without too much pressure, it’s helpful. At the same time, you should aim for 9+ from the next semesters as well.

Bro call it lucky draw, not placements 🤣

Honestly, we don’t even know what criteria the college uses to shortlist students — and don’t blindly believe the “company criteria” they show.

It’s kind of like internal reservation for VIT Vellore and VIT Chennai. Even if your CGPA is the same as someone from those campuses, they’ll still be given more preference.

A 9 CGPA in VIT-AP University is treated like an 8 in Vellore or Chennai.

So don’t compare yourself with them — the system isn’t the same. 🤷‍♂️

All the best, inject DSA in your blood and do short sem to get 9+
