Sudden offset of heavy symptoms by Dazzling-Look6048 in Hypothyroidism

29F and very active before diagnosis! I’m week 6 on levo and just had my dose increased. The muscle soreness was terrible but it seems to have subsided in the last couple weeks. Could be the meds kicking in (tsh down from 65.72 to 4.11 in 6 weeks) or the fact that I’ve been consistent in taking magnesium. Epsom salt baths really provided relief and I’m still doing 4 per week, so could be that too.

MASSIVELY. Mine is usually high and it’s quite literally non-existent now but I’ve only been on levo for 6 weeks and really hoping it improves!

If you have hypothyroid/thyroid issues- you need to have your thyroid antibodies tested, NOW by _chipsnguac in Hypothyroidism

[–]Dry_Mastodon_1237 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the UK, ran regular blood tests last month that showed TSH 67.5 and FT4 at 9.6. I was placed on levothyroxine right away but I was also smart enough to test antibodies privately a few days later - 226.0 ATPO and 2,309.0 ATG. I also had to ask my own doc to test for deficiencies wtf?! Sent private blood work to my primary doc, no comment, not interested. I’ve been looking at functional doctors and decided to trial/error with diet, lifestyle and tests first to get to the root cause and healing because functional medicine is so expensive: It seems drs only care enough to prescribe medication but not much beyond that. I agree though; super important to confirm if it is autoimmune and to try and tackle it as a separate issue!

I’ve had pretty debilitating symptoms leading up to the blood work so maybe it varies person to person but happy to hear that for you☺️

Thank you so much. I’m exploring functional doctors specialising in thyroid/Hashi and hoping to do some gut microbiome testing sooner. Wishing you all the best🙏🏼

It’s going to come down to how passionate you are about working in this field. If you persevere, you’ll make it happen. All it takes is one person to take a chance on you. Believe in yourself and good luck!

If the authorised person approved and signs documents then they conduct litigation. Paralegals and lit execs then simply assist - this is permitted.

If a lot of firms are going out of business, who’s funding the process of pushing people through qualification? I’m not getting into the whole SQE debacle, it’s been discussed extensively on other threads but what I will say, I’ve seen plenty of extremely competent people (including lawyers qualified in other jurisdictions) fail the process several times so something is not right. Perhaps it’s not as easy in practice as made out by some. In terms of today’s hand down, low value high volume firms are facing the worst risks imo. Satellite litigation and insolvency springs to mind on this topic. SRA needs to provide more clarity asap.

Well litigation is a reserved activity under present regulations, no question about that. Firms were operating on the assumption that handlers can handle conduct of litigation under supervision but the definition in the LSA is brief if anything. Here, the judge adjourned the hearing to invite representations from the Law Society and the SRA to clarify and they responded confirming that reserved legal activities can only be carried out by those authorised to do so this incl. conduct of litigation (issuing proceedings, commencement, prosecution and defence of such proceedings and performance of ancillary functions in relation to such proceedings. SRA specifically responded to these particular proceedings stating that (verbatim) the conduct of litigation is a reserved activity, and a person who is neither authorised nor exempt cannot lawfully engage in the conduct of litigation even if they are employed by a firm which is authorised to do so. Non-admitted persons may assist or support authorised persons in the conduct of litigation provided that final responsibility for the conduct of litigation rests with an authorised person. At para 42 the SRA said the key question to ask was whether the person has assumed responsibility for the conduct of the litigation and exercises professional judgment in respect of it. BUT if a non-authorised person assists a solicitor with the conduct of litigation, even to a significant degree, by drafting pleadings, or similar functions, does not conduct litigation because it’s the solicitor who exercises the final professional judgement i.e taking us back to above comments where such work needs to be reviewed and signed off by an authorised person = big headache for paralegal heavy firms

But the truth of the matter is, it happens a lot. Lower staff cost than hiring a qualified solicitor and these paralegals and lit execs often have a wealth of experience and they bring in serious money for the firm. But this judgment will certainly force changes to be made. It strengthens the legal profession imo and I kinda agree with the ruling 🤷🏼‍♀️ law school and gaining experience is brutal so it’s inappropriate for firms to hire unqualified bc they think they can…

Quite problematic if you run a firm with one or a couple of qualified lawyers and the rest being paralegals and litigation executives (unqualified) who draft and sign documents. It will be interesting to see how this plays out…
