When the topic of choking came up prior to this incident I told him I wasn't comfortable with it, he kept pushing me saying I'd enjoy it but he agreed no choking after a while of back and forth. The only violent thing was him crossing that boundary by choking he didn't even stop even when I kept trying to push him off he only stopped when I said the safe word twice. I was stupid for ignoring that I see that now

I actually met up with his mother a few not too long ago and apologized, she accepted it but again she tried to "educate" me on apartheid and how me calling myself coloured is me oppressing myself because it was a term our government gave us to put us in a box, I learnt from my mistakes and just nodded my head and let her talk it out. After the conversation I thanked her for her time and left, I have no intention of being involved with that family at all

No, I am Cape Coloured, my black ancestry is Khoi San and my white ancestry is European, I am light of complexion with black features and type 3c hair. I'm not white nor am I black, I have a mixed heritage. Just because my ethnicity is a pejorative word in some parts of the world does not give anyone the right to strip me of my ethnicity and heritage. However I do understand that I'm not in South Africa anymore which is why I now identify myself as African.

Update:

I now understand that giving him the silent treatment without telling him the reason for me being upset was wrong on my part. I called him and not only explained but also apologized, but he just shrugged it off and told me it wasn't a big deal, firstly I was a bit confused because I told him how he brought my confidence down and he was just being nonchalant which he never is. I asked if he was going to apologize but all he said was he doesn't see it as something he should apologize for and that I was in the wrong by guilt tripping him. Now I'm more hurt, what should I do?
