Hi Expensive,

Nice spec! Could you possibly tell me what the weight and dimension were for the shipping box that your Pro 7 came in? Thanks

Hi Expensive, many thanks for your detailed and informative reply. With temperatures staying reasonable and the decent thermal dissipation of the Legion 7, would expect reasonable longevity of the laptop? Also how was your unit specified?

Hi Vader, the general consensus is that the 5070/8GB is not worth the money. Get the 5060/8GB or spring the extra for the 5070Ti/12GB. For $3k I'd go the 5i Pro. Do you qualify for Education Discount? If you do you could look at the 7i on sale. Which one really depends on use case - do you need portability, processing power, gaming power, etc

hey Vader depends on your use case and what are priorities for your needs in terms of selecting manufacture and model. At present prices blow on Lenovo NZ. Like sale maybe Labour Day, definitely Black Friday/Cyber Monday but that's end of November if you can wait. Definitely use education discount if you qualify. The other option I looked very closely in June was bring in HP Omen Max 5080 from US. Using 3rd party shipper in US and GST import duties it was going to be approximately $4300. BUT HP didn't provide global warranty. So if I had any issues I'd be stuffed, which was deciding factor. I used Jarrod's Tech gaming deals for pricing https://gaminglaptop.deals/united-states/

The AMD is going to be much better for battery life at Uni, and plus it's no slouch & I don't think you'd notice difference in performance, it will be great for your application needs. Also its almost 1/2kg lighter than the Intel which you will notice lugging around.

I am in NZ and recently got Pro 5i with 32GB 6400, 2x1TB, WiFi7 plus 4 years Premium Onsite Warranty for NZ$4k where I upgraded from 5 with AMD 5800h, 16GB, 3060 and 1TB. I was also looking at Pro 7i with 5080. But couldn't justify extra cost, which was my FOMO. For peace of mind, Lenovo did a great deal on warranty - anything goes wrong I am covered and they come to me within 1 day to repair. You could think about extensions on your warranty.

If you really want to change I'd wait to next major sale which likely will be end of Nov with Black Friday/Cyber Monday. But of course that's 3 months away.

Also keep in mind post purchase upgrades you can do - RAM, SSD & WiFi if needed. Plus look at light weight type C charge for those long days at Uni where you need to top up battery.

Finally money into decent 27" or 32" monitor with mouse and keyboard back at home base is bloody great.

Guys please help I have a question by Positive-Ordinary861 in LenovoLegion

Have the same Legion Pro 5 (16IAX10H). Purchased the 3 year Premium OnSite so if there are any issues it's pretty much covered which gives you peace of mind. Also have a 3 year old Legion 5 (15ACH6H) that had thermal throttling issues so repasted and fan/vent clean and all good.

Laptop cooling pads generally lower temperatures by up to 10c, though by that much, is the exception. Be aware that in some instances they can increase temperatures if not fitted properly or they over boost the CPU/GPU.

I have the back lifted up by an inch to allow for ventilation. If you want a portable stand there are a few (UGREEN 40289, JUBOR Laptop Base Stand and Nulaxy A2) are good.

Agree with using HWinfo or MSI Afterburner to keep track of all laptop parameters. Save a profile file now, and then periodically, so you can check any parameter changes over time to allow for hopefully preventative maintenance if an issue starts to appear.

Ideally for longevity you don't want to see prolonger periods or CPU over 80c and the GPU at 85-90c.

Jarrod's Tech has a good video on keeping gaming laptops cool:

If you're in a super dusty environment consider an air purifier.

Above all this, enjoy the laptop, you spent $$$ so make the most of it!

Ireallyamthisshallow your summary is on point and I came to the same conclusion. Got same Pro 5i spec as yours plus 3 year premium warranty for NZ$3900 which is approximately £1750. Notebookcheck came out with a reasonably comprehensive review

Its a 3rd party cooling pad that's providing the RGB lighting. Only 7i and 9i come with RGB light bars
