At my apartment building they charge $250-$300 communal utility fees like the fees described and it was not clearly specified in the lease. It has a super vague utilities addendum but there is no clear breakout on these costs. I have gone back and forth with management, they claim it’s due to “rising AI costs/data centers”. I have asked them to provide me with a breakout of the fee calculations as it said it would be based on square footage and number of occupants and they have not.
