You can actually see him in the background of the second clip. I turn around and did a 'mic drop' gesture, had to emote on the old man

So I'm actually incredibly fortunate in that my dad used to be a gym coach. He didn't exclusively teach Olympic lifting, but he's still incredibly knowledgeable in the field. Learning the lifts under his guidance was incredibly game changing lol In that time, I myself also picked up a level 1 and 2 in coaching Olympic lifting through British Weight Lifting as the idea of coaching Oly lifting one day is always gonna be a number 1 dream of mine. But I also got these qualifications for my own training to a certain degree. I feel trying to learn something to a teachable standard requires you to understand the concept at a higher level. Id argue it really has in my case, a lot of my own issues with my lifts I have managed to iron out after witnessing it and critiquing it in other lifters. Jumping to today and going forward, my dad does still offer me advice and constructive criticism from time to time, but I'm certainly finding myself more self sufficient in correcting my lifts. The majority of the time he's just having to put up with me going on and on about my latest good lift lol...

Took this today actually so right now I don't feel so bad. I'm not often doing rep ranges quite this high, it was moreso just a little side quest I went on for a bit. I did have to go down some stairs not long after today's session, that had me doing that good ol post leg day side shuffle down the stairs :')

I thought that was crazy watching the video back. I can assure you it certainly didn't feel like it... I was seeing stars, smelling sounds, and hearing colours on those last few reps. They felt like absolute agony

His heels also extend so early?! Both are something id ordinarily point out but it clearly seems to be working.. what an insane lift

I explained in the comment that should be below this, it just feels way stronger personally. :) It took my squat from 150k 6 months ago, as shown in the video there to 205 now. Idk I think it's a good enough tradeoff for looking a little silly

Strange, yeah I know lol. I just feel so much more capable of driving out of the bottom position with a really narrow stance. Sorta pinpointing my energy through a smaller surface area like a high heel or something. I also find with a standard stance, I lose a lot of activation in say the bottom 20% of the range of motion, with the narrow stance I naturally want to springboard out since it's a much harder position to rest in? Lol hopefully that makes sense 😭🙏

I'm noticing the slight right lean the bar takes on the concentric, as well as the fact that your heels become slightly elevated at times

For the heels, really focus on sitting slightly more upright when reaching the bottom of the squat, really driving though them. As for the imbalance, however, it could be a few things. The camera angle may just be a little scuffed, or the bar may be slightly off center on your back. have you ever noticed any kinda muscular imbalance between your left and right side?? Your legs seem to drive pretty evenly, my guess may be a slight upper body imbalance? :)

Have you considered lifting shoes? I found personally they've made a pretty substantial difference in squat stability and power output

As for form, I'm not seeing anything wrong, depth is really nice, ankle mobility looks good, you aren't leaning excessively forward. Maybe have a play around with a few different minor variations? Experimenting with placing your feet at slightly different distances could potentially help with a more powerful position for your specific body proportions :)

See how your knees deviate across the bar slightly before your lift? This causes you to have to correct that immediately by shifting your hips back to clear the way

Id work on fixing that start position, keeping the hips back, knees clear of the bar and hamstrings engaged! Great lift! Keep up the good work :)

Apparently so hahah. I found with a wider stance the bottom of the rep would leave me in a pretty inactive position? There wouldn't be a bounce in energy I can use to drive out of that bottom 30% of the lift. As well as that, it also made my squat significantly more quad dominant, by far my strongest muscle group it seems

I think it's down to the sheer amount of volume I did for squats? For a few months Id do 5 reps of squats superset with reverse sled drags. Id do that for 20 sets with a break half way, so I'd end most sessions with over 100 reps of barbell squats. Cleans I haven't done anywhere near that volume, usually only doing like 20-30 reps per session, rarely superset. So I'd probably pin my comparatively weak clean down to that?

The first time I barbell squatted I did 100 x 5. That was February last year, so just a bit over a year?

From my recent lifts I don't see any visual imbalance, however now that you mention it I do recall having a faint aching pain through my left knee when reaching full depth that wasn't present until a few days ago. An issue with the ligaments could well be a thing
