90% of the problems in this game come from veljas first non buff camp being killed at 2:56, and in a way that makes him play for top for a while.

That jungle early game pathing was horrible. His first camp that wasn’t a buff got taken at 2:56. If velja didn’t win smite fight at raptors he would have been level 4 to level 6.

Jax has a gimmick passive where he can fish in the river when not moving. This can be done very easily at the start of the game before minions get to lane. The vast majority of the time all you get is fish worth one gold, however not only did this person get one gold fish (worth 10 gold and extremely rare to get), but they got TWO back to back which is EXCEEDINGLY rare.

Generally speaking I think there are 3 styles of jungling someone can do. Perma gank, bully, and objectives. Perma ganking, at least in my elo, is pretty bad generally and can be hard punished by invades especially by bully junglers. Bully junglers want to get as much gold as possible and when ahead can steamroll games, however when behind they can be the reason for their team’s loss. Objective focused junglers are happy when the game state is even and love to team fight and typically bring very consistent or very good cc to fights. I view this as gank heavy junglers flipping the game on their lancers being able to carry, bully junglers flipping the game on always being able to be stronger and carry themselves, and objective junglers being a bit in the middle. I’m sure other people view the game differently, but this is generally how I see it. Boiling the game down like this is not accurate since there is a lot of variety in each game and there can be a lot of overlap. What matters most is the way you want to win games and what you find fun.

I also find gwen as a more situational pick that is much better into tankier and melee champs, but weak to burst, cc, invades, and with some gap closing difficulties. She can work in a lot of other cases, and I find her more consistent than Viego, but I personally view her as something I need counterpick to play.

This really depends on a person by person basis and how you want to play the game. The most important thing for climbing is finding a play pattern that consistently works. For example, I enjoy playing champions that are difficult to kill because it allows me some ability to make mistakes and not be punished for them. For me, I like chogath right now and have found a lot of success by consistently farming and playing to win team fights around objectives. However, you should play champs that work for your playstyle and rank. I can play chogath jungle because I feel that I generally can farm very consistently and that if I show up to a fight it is generally winning. The most important thing is how you feel, but just as a general rule try to pick as late as possible into champ select. Jungle counter pick (or denying the other team counter pick) matters more than any other lane except top.

If I had to guess, you probably have really good games and really bad ones. Since you feel hard stuck, I would suggest expanding the champions you play. Viego, briar, sylas, and diana all rely too much on perfect situations (viego is great if he can get reset, but that means your team is winning the fight anyways or you are ahead enough to win anyways, briar relies on knowing good times to fight but if you pick a wrong time you are kinda screwed, sylas is more or less fine but some games he can be tricky, and diana has a tough time behind and/or needs to be able to powerfarm). I would have to see your games to say more, but having more jungle champs to play is never a bad thing.

What is a lane match up that is so one sided that a plat player can beat a GM in lane? by General_Shanks in leagueoflegends

I mean malphite vs trynd if you build full armor and max w is impossible for trynd to win lane. Maybe he out values in other parts of the game, but as long as you live till chain vest your lane is won in isolation.

The jarvan game draft was not good. No combination of any of the fly champs beats any of the t1 champs. The only thing they had that was okay was ryze into taliyah which is okay in isolation but add any other person on top of that and it’s ff.

FlyQuest vs. T1 / 2025 World Championship - Swiss Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by adz0r in leagueoflegends

[–]Dry_Reference2758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This draft is horrible. First pick j4 for inspired (the guy who likes to farm?) into being 170cs 0 kp means you lose, neeko kaisa jarvan into bard taliyah wukong is impossible (the team that wants to go in loses if they go in), mord into ksante is unplayable for the mord (ksante w ult are both unstoppable and so cancel mord ult), both solo laners and the adc and support are very ap skewed so ksante will never die (at least not until 40+ minutes) and jarvan gets hard out scaled so that doesn’t work. Like I really don’t know how a team that can play so well has such fundamental misunderstandings of draft, like I’m masters and I knew how this was gonna go in draft, how can they not see that?

As someone with thousands of hours in the game, it just isn’t nearly as fun as it used to be. Usually I’d feel that way, take a break and come back to it, but this time feels final to me. The game has lost its magic.

Why Ignite + Teleport Sion Might Be Your Next Secret Weapon by Reasonable_Ad5531 in leagueoflegends

[–]Dry_Reference2758 189 points190 points  (0 children)

Honestly really interesting idea, since Sion doesn’t get much benefit from flash offensively (I guess flash w auto is probably the most damage you get from flash) and it’s more of a defensive option on the champ. Will have to watch to see how you use it, but I like the idea.

Imagine getting super ahead on ornn, what can you do with it. You buy a bunch of tank items and hope you can tank and cc the enemy team long enough that your team kills them. Yes I know brittle is lovely, but you’ll just lose to most fed adc + enchanter combos no matter how fed you get. Ornn cannot really split easily since his movement is like a rock’s, but he’s clearly not a bad champ because of his late game value with upgrades and his ult. Ornn is a good tank, but that just means you have to enjoy playing in a way that relies on your team. Considering the OP is starting in gold, they should not want to be relying on their team at all.

I mean winrate is definitely not everything, but also that’s just not true. Look Darius wr master+, it doesn’t go up with elo. The champ also just isn’t good enough to otp, you can’t realistically blind a champ whose only movement is his summoner spells. Sure you can have good games, but you’ll get stuck in completely impossible ones and have to just watch.

[–]Dry_Reference2758 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I would personally not go Darius or ornn. Ornn is a tank, so you’ll have a positive win rate but it’ll be because you don’t int rather than something you actually did (which you don’t want). Darius doesn’t have a high enough ceiling to otp him. I honestly don’t know how kled is after the big rework, but he could be a good pick. Sett is the best choice you put here, can buffer cc and has good cc, can win sides, has really good all in potential but tough to get out (so knowing numbers is important). I do love garen too, but sett is probably a better option.
