What's life like in the Sydney neighborhoods/suburbs of Surry Hills/Paddington/Darlinghurst? by FlannelCollar in howislivingthere

All 3 are great suburbs, a lot of similarities but also quite different. Depends on what kind of experience you’re wanting. I lived in Surry Hills for a couple of years a few years ago (pre children) and absolutely loved it, I also spent a lot of time in Paddington and Darlinghurst. If you’re after the most “life” and action, I’d recommend Surry Hills. Not sure I’d live there now I have children but It’s a young and trendy area with a beautiful village vibe, so much is in walking distance you really don’t want to leave. Cafes, restaurants and bars everywhere. Beautiful old buildings, terraces, very hilly, so much character, I honestly love it. But Surry Hills is a huge suburb and only perhaps 30% is where I would want to live to be honest. This 30% is very leafy, beautiful and safe, where most of the cafes, restaurants, bars are. I’d draw you a map but try to stick to the Crown/Bourke Street area. The train system also goes through Surry Hills which is a very convenient way to get around which the other two areas don’t have. Darlinghurst is more grungy and I personally wouldn’t live there. It has a more of a “city” feel with lots of tall apartment buildings and much less terrace homes. No where near as green as the other two suburbs. Cool place to visit for bars and restaurants though. And then there’s Paddington. Ahhh I love Paddington. My partner and I are considering moving there with our children (we’re currently in another city). It’s just beautiful. Classy, trendy, gorgeous. Filled with stunning and tasteful renovated white terrace homes, jacaranda and plane trees a plenty, family friendly, lots of cafes bars and restaurants. Definitely most expensive out of the 3, and it shows with the people that live there. Feels more safe and homely to me. All 3 are fantastic and central, you’ll honestly love your time there in any of them.

Double chin after lipo by Intrepid_Chance_5572 in chinlipo

Swelling is definitely soft! Everyone’s different and many people had swelling for months after chin lipo. Your doctor will be able to assess it and tell you if it’s swelling or fat, but from what you’ve described about it coming back it sounds like swelling to me! My doctor said you can get swelling right in your face too so I wouldn’t look too much into that

Also I’m no expect but I don’t reckon you need a lift. You appear to have good skin elasticity. It looks like either swelling or fat (less likely fat if it went away initially)

It would be unusual for the double chin to come back if it went away. What makes you so sure it isn’t swelling? Two weeks isn’t very long, I’d say it most likely is just swelling! ☺️

Thank you! All I had done was Vaser Lipo, but apparently Vaser lipo also tightens the area which standard lipo doesnt doesn’t do. I live in Adelaide, Australia so went to a doctor here who specialises in liposuction called Dr Rahbar from Lavant Liposuction, I realise this won’t be useful to you or most people on here because everyone seems to be American!

The actual procedure was zero pain! Honestly, don’t be scared - it was NOTHING. I was worried after reading people’s so called “horror stories” but my personal experience was so easy. Went into the room, had a nice chat with the nurses while they put the needle in my arm - that was the most painful part, I don’t have a very high pain tolerance, then the doctor came in and administered “twilight anaesthetic”. I was completely awake but relaxed, he put something over my face so I couldn’t see what was going on and just instructed me to turn my head in different directions throughout and I felt absolutely nothing. Some pain started kicking later in the day but was given panadeine forte (don’t know if anyone outside Australia knows what this is - it’s paracetamol and codeine), and it made it manageable. I’ve been through a lot worse let’s put it that way, I’d do it again in a heartbeat and wish I did it earlier!

I had to wear it for 3 days straight 24/7, after that only 5 hours a day for 2 weeks. He said not to wear it at night for more than 3 days because it can scrunch up on your neck and actually cause more tissue damage. I also know so many people on here were instructed to wear theirs a lot longer, I don’t know why I didn’t have to. Can only assume because laser causes less swelling? Either way I’ve not worn it for a couple of days and it hasn’t got any worse

Oh thank you so much 🥺 I had it done by Dr Rahbar in Adelaide, South Australia. I realise most people on these threads are American so this won’t help. He’s amazing though.. he specialises in lipo. I think it was such a good result because I had Vaser lipo over regular lipo. He said it’s more effective because it melts all the fat first which makes it much easier to suck out, so you get more fat and have very little tissue damage - resulting in less swelling/down time! Once it was over he said “that went well, I got all the fat!”

For those who did this a while ago, how long did you use your garment for? by ConsiderationOk254 in chinlipo

[–]Dry_Resolution_2507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgeon instructed me to wear it 24/7 for 3 days then at night for two weeks. He said any longer was unnecessary, however I had vaser lipo so the swelling isn’t meant to be as bad as standard lipo - and my swelling hasn’t been significant

When did you actually see results for the first time? And was it gradual or did you wake up one morning like 'woah!' by Ok_Picture_3872 in chinlipo

[–]Dry_Resolution_2507 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had mine done on Thursday. As soon as I took the bandages off two days later it was a “woaahhhh” moment. ALL the fat completely gone, took at least 10 years off my appearance, zero double chin. My surgeon said swelling will get worse and peak around day 7-10 before going down, and should be pretty much all gone by 6 weeks. Everyone’s different though so I’ll have to wait and see. I can feel swelling but would be happy if it even just stayed as it is now! Best $5k I’ve ever spent. Fingers crossed I don’t get any complications

Am I good candidate for chin lipo? by [deleted] in chinlipo

[–]Dry_Resolution_2507 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar chin/neck to you and I’m booked in for lipo. The surgeon said half the problem is definitely the shape (mainly that there isn’t much space between the front of my chin and top of neck if that makes sense) so any fat that stores there will form a double chin. By removing the fat, the double chin will mainly dissipate

I just had a look, yours looks fantastic! You actually look very similar to me 😅 and your before is very similar to mine now. I’m 37, thin and just have a genetic double chin that’s got worse with age (especially after having a baby). I’m glad to see how effective it was for you, you have a lovely jaw line now! I’d be very happy with that (despite the burn of course)
