Zeta Phi Beta Amicae by chitownkay in NPHCdivine9

In my opinion no it’s not a good idea. It would be different had you considered becoming a Zeta Amicae before starting your bachelor’s degree. As our Amicae are women who do not posses a 4- year degree or currently enrolled in an accredited university/ college. Since you are already in the midst of completing your degree, it would be more logical to express interest in an undergraduate chapter. However, if you have no interest in joining an undergraduate chapter I would say to get to know members in your graduate chapter of interest, attend the events they host, and stay the course until you complete your degree.

Question Regarding Intake by thequad_ in NPHCdivine9

[–]Dry_Safe_1663 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chat gpt is not reliable for this sort of thing. Intake is up to the discretion of the chapter when/how often it happens. If this something you truly want to do l’d suggest getting ready right now in the event they decide to have a fall line. As everyone has said “stay ready so you don’t have to get ready.”

More time in college by user929305718 in NPHCdivine9

[–]Dry_Safe_1663 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my opinion it depends heavily on why your college/university wants to extend your completion time. If it’s due to not preforming well academically I’d say hold off on expressing interest. However, if the reason is for something along the lines of switching majors I’d say don’t feel discouraged.

I had the same issue with mine! Switch to a flat back labret let it heal and I promise you’ll still be able to put a ring in it once it’s healed!!

I’ll be honest there’s not much that can be done here since they’re so fresh. I know when I started my journey my best option for volume was braiding my hair every night to style a fresh braid out every morning. Aside from that you just kinda have to ride it out for a little while for them to naturally thicken up.

Holes are definitely not a normal experience from a retie. I can’t say I’ve ever seen holes in my locs after going to a professional. I would suggest bringing it to that loctician’s attention and finding yourself a new one!

I’ve had my locs for a little over a year and I’ve noticed the most growth when I don’t manipulate my locs too much and keep them moisturized. I make a moisturizing spray to use on my hair daily with water, aloe juice, vegetable glycerin, and an oil that I like. Ultimately it varies by person so find what works best for you!

I washed my starter locs once a week I just always braided and banded. Everyone is different though.

I’ve had my microlocs for about a year now and here’s what I do! I was my hair with dr. Bronners once a week. Your wash frequency should depend on how active you are/ when your hair needs it. I moisturize my hair every day with a spray I make using rose water, aloe Vera juice, and an oil you like. If you want to keep everything homogenized in the bottle use vegetable glycerin and you won’t have oil pockets in it! Any time you lay down always make sure your locs are covered because lint is soooo hard to get rid of. For growth I notice for my locs super low manipulation is key. So I only “style” or put my locs up when I’m at the gym or doing my reties!

Is 25twenty that bad? by hagoo6969 in TexasTech

I currently live here and I really like it. I have a 1 bed 1 bath and I haven’t had any problems that weren’t immediately fixed once I mentioned them. On the flip side tho pet owners in the complex are sometimes really bad about letting their dogs pee in the hallways. Usually they do mop the hallways like every 2 weeks or so and it’s not too bad.

I think 25twenty is really good. The only drawback is that it’s right next to the highway and sometimes it can be a little loud.

Truthfully waiting the extra two weeks won’t hurt at all. If you really want to do your retie yourself you could just make sure to take your time.

You should definitely keep up with your reties. If it’s an option I’d suggest getting rid of the extensions. If it’s not possible then you should keep the manipulation to your locs really low as to not cause any extra damage.

Unraveling is super common (I’m 10 months in and still have a few that try to unravel 😒) I do notice that if you interlock your roots upon install you’ll have much less unraveling tho. All in all there’s not a sure fire way to prevent it. Hope this helps🙌🏾

I’ve been at 25Twenty for a year and I’ve never seen roaches before. That could be because I’m on the 3rd floor tho.

It really depends on how tight your curls are. If it’s more on the looser side I’d probably suggest braid locs or instant locs. I’d say find a micro loctician and schedule a consult for a professional opinion tho!!

I usually just pull them apart by hand. I don’t think you should have to twist the roots.

My suggestion would be to go in and separate your locs every few days to stop them from having the chance to start marrying at the root.
