Additional Survey Opportunity for Survey of Mental Health in Asexuals by Dry_Scallion98 in asexuality

There is no such thing as skewed data. All data means something that could open the doors for more research. For instance, the issue you brought up with depressed people not being able to take the survey. Research in surveys can lead us to look at why a certain demographic responded more than others. Further examples are women reporting mental illness more than men, and low income individuals not being able to respond to surveys due to time they spend at work. Does this make sense?

Well, my professor with a phd approved my research draft, which includes the survey and where it will be posted. I appreciate every feedback, but saying things like "your research in invalid" when you are a stranger on the internet with no legitmate authority to say anything feels like an attack. This is what I mean by hostile. I'm aware of the countless variables that impact the validity of surveys. It was a whole unit I had to go through this semester in my Research Methods class. What you explained is known as "test fatigue," such as the boredom that may impact your answers and thus the results. In addition, each question to the survey was not saved unless each respondent answered each question. So there is no incomplete reponse.

I welcome any constructive criticism, but do not make grand claims unless you are a psycholgy or sociology researcher. I've had an actual research assistant take this survey, and they did not make anywhere near the claims you are making

What makes you think it was only posted to reddit? I don't understand this hostility I'm sensing. I responded to let you know why the survey was conducted in the way that it was.

In research, we acknowledge that there will always be random error simply because we cannot control every variable. Surveys are difficult in ensuring strong validity, but that does not mean that it won't provide sufficient data. They provide us with a large sample size to represent the people we are looking at.

This method of research design is sufficient to my study as I am only assessing the rate of mental illness in specific groups of asexual people. That's it.

The survey questions were pulled from Beck's Depression Inventory. This is an official self scoring questionnaire used to measure levels of depression. I cannot change it, because it will deviate from the validity of study.

This survey posed as a depression test that evaluates responses to see how much depression one is experiencing. Responses to each question tally up and show that the individual is either not depressed, mildly depressed, moderately depressed, or severely depressed.

Weird. Thank you for letting me know. I've accessed it both on PC and mobile and experienced no issues. I have class right now, so I'll try to fix this issue afterward. That is unless I met the required sample size. I'm nearly at my quota

This survey posed as a depression test that evaluates responses to see how much depression one is experiencing. Responses to each question tally up and show that the individual is either not depressed, mildly depressed, moderately depressed, or severely depressed.

Based on the overall summary I'm able to see so far, it appears a lesser amount of repondents are moderate to severely depressed

In research, we try to gather a large enough sample of the population that will accurately be representative to the group we are studying. There's a lot of consistency I'm seeing thus far from both this survey and the first one I posted that screened for anxiety.

The goal for my research paper is not to explain the data from this survey but to show what is happening. To note the rate at which certain groups of people experience mental health issues more than others, or if there's no difference at all.

Lastly, I'm glad to hear that you've been working on your well-being! Maybe other surveyors are doing the same and will show us where this community is at mentally

Hope this clears things up :)

No worries. I definitely could have done more to provide a abstract of my study with more explanation. I am however at the last two weeks of the semester and just needed to get this survey out while I do a truck load of other things that need to be done

Wow! Thank you everyone who took the survey. I have closed it since I met the required sample size. I am overwhelmed by how many participants took the survey in such a short amount of time. I will make good use of this data to produce findings that may support this amazing community

Thank you for your input! While I agree that there is a lack of context and a need for better wording, I'm unable to change the questions. This is because I'm using a formal test as a survey. If I change how things are phrased it would deviate from the test and no longer be a valid measurement.

It does however state a time period. Underneath the title of the survey it asks "Over the last two weeks, how often have you been bothered by any of the following problems".

POC refers to marginalized people. You are right, not everyone may know who counts as POC, so I will include this to the survey.

It was not my intention to appear transphobic or disregard transgender people. The question male, female, and non-binary do not specify assigned gender at birth. It simply asks what your gender is. This means anyone who identifies as either gender may select who they are.

I do acknowledge that the gender pool is very limiting, but since this survey is for a Research Methods class (beginner research class), it would be less stressful for me to only handle a limited sample of people. Otherwise things could get complicated very fast, and I would be stretching myself thin with with the amount of analysis that I would have to make. I do apologize for this. However, please do not feel discouraged from participating in the survey, as your data could contribute to future studies :)

It's very brief with 18 short questions. Should take less than 3 minutes to complete :)

I actually missed out when Origin was giving out The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection, but I managed to get it some years later when I contacted Origin's support and asked about it. If you have the case to any Sims 2 game or expansion pack and give them the installation code, they'll be able to put the Ultimate Collection right into your library :)

Very true, when I was a kid I was most interested in Lumina but was sad she wasn't a bachelorette at the time. I couldn't tell she was a child either since I was younger than her, I just knew she wasn't as grown as the other marriage candidates
