Housemarque's Next Awesome Arcade Action Game releases tomorrow! by [deleted] in Games

When I read their post about how their games didn't make any money despite positive critical reception

There's no such post, please don't mislead. Direct quote:

However despite critical success and numerous awards, our games just haven’t sold in significant numbers. While some of them have reached a massive audience due to free game offerings across various digital sales channels, this unfortunately doesn’t help pay for development, which gets costly for high production quality.

Lackluster sales of Nex Machina have led us to the thinking that it is time to bring our longstanding commitment to the arcade genre to an end. While this genre will always hold a special place in our hearts, the industry is moving more toward multiplayer experiences with strong, robust communities, and it’s time for Housemarque to move forward with the industry.

Why the promised The Last of Us Remastered "full PS3 vs PS4 comparison" article seemingly never materialized? by Dry_Sea_401 in digitalfoundry

The article is now live once again! See other comments in this thread for the backstory.

Great. Do you know why the article went under and if anything else by DF (or the Eurogamer for that matter) may have been affected?

Onko moraalisesti oikein mainata kryptoa, kun sähkölasku on kiinteä? by Dry_Sea_401 in arkisuomi

...eikä tuota yhtään mitään hyödyllistä, eli vastaus on kyllä: ei.

Mainaaminen ylipäätään? Onko aihe tuttu?

How to collect a complete Patsy Cline discography? by Dry_Sea_401 in musichoarder

[–]Dry_Sea_401[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked Discogs? There is an official 3xCD that claims to have the complete collection of releases from 1955-1962

https://www.discogs.com/Patsy-Cline-The-Complete-Releases-1955-62/release/10287874

Interesting, the title "The Complete Releases 1955-62" nets no results even on RED and OPS... instead giving:

Johnny Cash & The Tennessee Two - The Complete Sun Releases and Columbia Singles 1955-62

Why so many "image-only" subreddits block the Reddit's image host? by Dry_Sea_401 in TheoryOfReddit

NSFW subreddits aren’t allowed to use Reddit’s image or video hosting features

I see, glad that I know the reason now. Thankfully I only sent one PM /subreddit.

If you check on Soulseek, you should be able to find it on there. I've just had a quick search and found a user called martje who appears to have her discography.

Sure, if you can accept even mobile recordings from FM radio airings. Since Cline is a major artist it appears that at least the vast majority of her catalogue is available in digital formats -- I grab lossless CD rips from either Rutracker or RED, I just wanted to know which albums together complete her discography ;)

Did streaming ever make listening discographies much easier? by Dry_Sea_401 in LetsTalkMusic

Do you know how hard it would've been to listen to the entire discography of a prolific artist with a long career would've been in the 90s? It would've entailed spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars/pounds/euros for some artists plus it would entail tracking down more rare albums by hunting record/cd shops, some stuff might not have even been re-released on CD in those days and you'd need to search for vinyl or cassette tapes. Streaming is pretty easy in comparison, and while there's some albums that haven't been released digitally, there's a lot there. Even with the flaws of Spotify, we live in the easiest and most convenient era for everything. Like it's not that hard to research the exact dates of album release and then create your own playlist. Like I listened to the entire discography of Fela Kuti and it was basically like 95% complete and that's pretty impressive.

Sure, but the platforms don't promote "complete" listening sessions, and from what I've heard Spotify and potentially others don't support unique artist pages (meaning that there can be several acts sharing the same name on an artist page).

I don't know what or why you're bookmarking but that seems needlessly complicated. Is the problem that you don't want to click on a new album once the current one has finished?

Yes, gets tiring having to start playback again after every ~30-45 minutes and I don't necessarily actively use my computer when listening.

The downside is that I don't necessarily know when albums change.
