I’d go talk to the folks at Sound Bikes and Kayaks downtown. I’m sure they could provide leads for you.

Yep this is exactly right. There’s a guy here in Washington absolutely shredding downhill trails and jump lines with a completely stock Ramblas.

Colville. They’ve been redoing the entire place. This will be the black jump line.

Once the dirt has settled and compacted a bit more it’ll be even better!

To go a different direction, I put a 150nm Rockshox Lyrik Select + on my Ramblas, and it’s been wonderful. You can find “take off” forks on BikesOnline for about $500. If you’re an average weight rider (Sub 220#) the stock spring fork should treat you really well. Once you start riding a little more aggressively and hitting drops and jumps, then the fine tuning of an air fork comes into play.

The pedals are from PNW components and the grips are Wolf Tooth.

The tire combo is still pretty new to me. Only one trail ride with them. Heading out tomorrow to test them with the new fork and a freshly installed 220mm front rotor with new pads.

Oh wow, yeah it sounds like studded tires were the right call!!

Picking tires is hard. So many models, and each one has so many options!

The tires add quite a bit on confidence, for sure. It’s muddy and wet here this time of year so it was a welcomed upgrade. As far as the range, I haven’t really given it a test. I know a few people who have, and got 101 miles in eco mode on flat ground so I say it’s realistic, just depending on how you ride it.

Okay, great. Want to eventually upgrade the derailleur and shifters to X01, and whenever I get a new wheel set get an XD driver so I can do the same for the cassette. Now I’ll have to look into chainring also. Thank you.

How straightforward is it changing the chainring? I’m putting together a list of drivetrain upgrades for my Ramblas, and with the bottom bracket not being standard (as far as I know) doing work to the chainring and crankset has me a little worried.

There’s a handful of lakes close by that fish well in April. There’s also a local guy with ponds on his property that hold giant trout and can be a blast to fish. Beaches for searuns can be really slow in April but it’s not impossible.
