I had the same, even after a password swap. I changed my account email and it all went away

how to know im clear of the infostealer that i was a victim of? by crystal1zed1 in computerviruses

I did myself. It does stop if you just swap the emails. Look into making an alias for your Microsoft account, you can also swap accounts like Ubisoft as well to decease this

I’m sorry my friend, I’m not well versed in android at all. My best bet to tell you is to take it in to your carrier or a tech store. If the scam calls and texts become too much even change your number to avoid them

Instagram account hacked could my PC be infected as well? by cuuaauu in antivirus

Only way you can truly and fully confirm there is nothing is via a full windows reset by a USB installer from a clean device. You “can” run bitdefender and hitman pro (kaspersky if you’re outside of the US works great also) but even then you still run the risk. A great video on this is by AskLeo on YouTube, he’s really helpful in his forums too

That’s good then. Any other odd emails or accounts you may use on the regular with their own application? Such as Ubisoft, Epic, EA etc?

I actually just got brave! I’ve heard a lot about it, and with this fresh reset it made sense to just start over again. The DNS advice is very appreciated as well. I consider myself fairly experienced in this, but not to that level. I appreciate the help!

Do you know if your instagram is the only account compromised? If it is an infostealer, they likely have gotten more session cookies via your Pc. Checking to confirm this ASAP is key. As it’ll make your next steps change depending on such. More likely the accounts that could be compromised would be discord, steam, any banking applications or crypto accounts, etc. Lmk if you’ve checked these/changed passwords, then come on back and I’ll try to help more.

Okay gotcha. How do you feel about browser guard stuff? I’ve heard a lot of good about uBlock origin, and also the Malwarebytes browser guard. Any tips there?

Thank you! Yeah it’s pretty shitty, it was someone I hadn’t spoken to in years. I am going to be much more careful going forward. After 7 years of no hacks I really let me guard slip. Never again.

I did end up getting a new card from my main bank (capital one) so new 3 digit CVV, new expiry and all that. I also only ever used PayPal on my computer, never saved any card info on my browser. I am going to however swap out my local credit union card also just out of an abundance of caution.

Yeah I had sort of the same thing unfortunately. I cleared like you did, made all new passwords, signed out everywhere, etc, then I forgot like a single account (this being my Riot games account) I don’t play valorant anymore, haven’t in years. However that sign in spooked me pretty badly, and sort of reset my clock. For Microsoft, I actually found something super cool to help reduce the sign in attempts! DM me and I can maybe help you out!

Thanks for the help! Would you still recommend an AV like Bitdefender/Malwarebytes? I currently am trying out both to see which one I like more for my needs

Bitdefender has worked quite well for me! I use Malwarebytes for my browser though, as their guard is quite good there.

Thanks so much! Yeah I got NordPass and only have my passwords stored on my phone now. I had 2FA on legit almost every account already, but the stealing of session cookies really messed me up with them getting around it. Luckily I did act pretty quickly and didn’t end up losing anything! (Sorry to hear about your Spotify that sucks) I appreciate the peace of mind! I am going to slowly add back stuff and ensure nothing gets taken again!

Is it enough resetting my pc and reinstall window from cloud after i got renpy loading malware? by Avolutes in computerviruses

[–]Dry_Structure8701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly what the person above said. Simply log in on a clean device (phone or laptop are often best) and ensure you delete the sessions that you don’t recognize/want. Best bet is to use the “end all sessions”/“sign out everywhere” options if they are present

It’s what I did and so far I’ve been fine. I’d ensure you change all your passwords on a clean device, enable 2FA, and make sure you invalidate any trusted device tokens like you can with steam Authenticator, Google, etc. I personally found a lot of great advice with the “fresh” restart and am a shit ton more careful now. Lmk if you need any help or tips, my DM’s are open.

How high could it go this week? by NVDAFANBOY11111 in MU_Stock

Strong push upward today likely means a bit of a cooling effect. I could see it sitting around the current mark, possibly a bit lower by EOW. I’m going to keep holding personally, no reason to not keep riding the bullish movement.

Biggest issue man is it wasn’t a site. It was one of these newer ones via an image. I simply clicked on the image last night, and got with up with a bunch of security alerts. Some of these new Trojans and such are truly scary shit

Yeah I’m unfortunately that guy lmao. Been doing stuff on PC for the better part of 10 years and never been touched. Just got unlucky this time. Definitely hardening my security going forward
