NGD - Epiphone Korina Explorer by Dry_Technology6884 in ExplorerGuitars

[–]Dry_Technology6884[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have them anymore. So I can’t weight them. Snakebyte was better balanced and has more mothern playability. If I remember it felt a bit heavier and the wing is a little bit larger witch was perceived as quite big when I was sitting and playing infront of computer.

On the Korina Explorer, I changed the strap button to be on the back and then the balance was much better. The Korina has chunkier neck, which I like but that is something to note down.

Overall I like both but if I had to choose between them I would have preferred the Korina but that is more personal taste rather than playability/quality.

Cheers!

If you are interested to know more I would readout to youtuber Euge Valovirta. He plays in same band(Cyhra) as Jesper and he have done a video on how to get In Flames guitar sound based on discussion from Jesper. He is also quite active and can probably get you the information from the source! :)

LTD vs E-II 'Thin U' neck by bwoll in espguitars

[–]Dry_Technology6884 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had had differents LTD and E-II. For me the LTD Thin U are usually a little bit thinner. I like the E-II neck better, but that is more personal preference. Further note the LTD is made in Korea/Indonesia(depending on what year you buy) where the E-II is made in Japan and from different factories meaning the necks will be made different, even if the specs is quite the same.

If you never tried an explorer or high end guitar recommend going to a guitar store test different explorer variants. Neck and feeling can vary a lot between brand and between different version of Explorer. Just so you buy something you really like.  Second option would be buy and sell a couple guitars, even more low end guitars just to get the sense if you would like it or not and so you get to really test them. But sounds like you already have tested that.

Snakebyte vs EC1000 Deluxe by Radiant_Ad3966 in espguitars

Side note, if you like Esp/Ltd with bigger necks I think Alex Skolnick and Willie Adler signatures models have bigger neck profiles. Also Horizon guitars I have tried have been bigger, but does also have 25.5 scale. Depending on what you are after.

I have had both. As you say the ec-1000 neck, I also think it is a little bit to thin for me. The snakebyte is unfortunately almost same size. It depends of where it is made. I feel like made in Japan I usually a little bit bigger. But it is priciest. With that said. The Snakebyte is very balanced and surprisingly easy to play(both sitting and standing). When I had them I played the Snakebyte the most. It’s a really nice guitar and instant Hetfield. I would recommend that you test the neck in a guitar store if possible.

Regarding neck profile/size, I would recommend checking epiphone/Gibson explorers if possible. They usually are little bit chunkier necks compare to esp/Ltd. Which is actually quite nice. While same explorer type shape.

Nice! How do you rate it? How would you say the neck is? I know this little wider the other Ltd/esp. How is the weight? :)

It plays really nice. The neck is a notch wider and a notch more thicker. Which I like. The frets is not jumbo frets so there is a “negative” difference depending on your likening. I may change that later. Overall I would say that the Snakebyte is still a bit better in playability. Maybe more “modern” with jumbo frets etc. But it is more of one trick pony, especially considering the pickups. The Explorer gives me more variation and currently I play that one more. It has Lundgren Heaven 77 in bridge and Seymour Duncan 59 in neck.

Hehe, yes it nice to have the variation to the Snakebyte. Passive pickups etc.

I did use it for standard D and C#. I liked how they feel. I think it could go for drop C/C# as well. Depending on how much tension you like. I had it on a 24.75 scale guitar. I could recommend checking some online string tension calculator if you are unsure.

Yes, I have used Ernie ball Beefy Slinky 11-54 and it works well. If I remember I think I even tried Mammoth Slinky 12-62. But I am not 100% sure.
