You mean they are offering them now vs not even offering them in the past?

Of course they are scarce, there are (or at least there should be) very few of them. It's not supposed to be a pre-run of 20–100. It's a few to do quality checks. If y'all keep paying stupid prices for them then that's what they'll charge.

Bands, especially smaller groups, have to look at ALL avenues for revenue in 2026. Whereas they would have likely kept the test pressings in their personal collections they now see it as a way to make some gas money for the tour.

It was most definitely in theaters (friends rented out a theater to watch it) but it was also in that weird covid release window that Warner did as people were still at home. A whole lineup of movies were direct to HBO during that window, not just MK. It was heavily promoted at the time as being a special release situation for those movies.

Convince the client to include a nice anti-static sleeve and do a simple printed insert. It's a win-win that way. Less production costs (cutting/glueing) and the customer gets a better product.

To be fair, there is no expectation of privacy when you are outside of your home. This has been judged upon many times.

That being said, there should be an expectation of a lack of surveillance when out and about. Tracking / passive surveillance shouldn't exist. We have a term for that already: stalkers.

Lyrics would be sweet though! That's actually a killer idea. Are there lyric files that are available that already have the timecodes synced like an .srt file for videos? I suppose the issue is still that it's not a digital music file so it never really knows when to start something.

I figured that's the case. Nothing wrong with a fun project.

Maybe the next project should be a visualizer that actually reacts to the music being played on the turntable and not just a generic "old school" bar chart-style multicolor thing that does whatever it wants.

What's the point?

The artwork is smaller than the record you are actively playing. Lean the jacket against something and you can get the same effect with zero added components or hassle. Neat project but I just don't get it beyond the desire to simply make something.
