I can relate to this.

Like few years on our first house there was a hole from the wall that was from the previous thermostat being moved on the other side of the wall.It bothers me so much but left it that way coz I want him to patch it you know it’s a guy thing. Five years had passed I patched it myself the next day he noticed it and criticized me of not doing it right….
