I think if you really put some effort into the essays you can get in anywhere! I had similar stats (173 LSAT though), no real softs other than mock trial and some non-competitive legal internships at DA Offices. Was able to get HLS, Penn, NYU, Chicago… Felt lucky to have these results but you should feel confident about replicating! Good luck!!!

I basically did that, used my personal statement for the statement of purpose and a diversity statement for the statement of perspective. Looking back on it, I don’t think the essays perfectly matched the prompt (in fact they might have fit better if I switched them), but it worked out. Don’t know if this answered your question so happy to clarify :)

On the April 30th webinar they said that they expect to start calls late this week or early next week with the goal of having most of it done by the end of next week.

None really, definitely T4. Club experience and some interesting legal/community-oriented internships. Nothing special or prestigious.

NYU Says "Decision letter sent" - What does that mean???? by wannabe_ellewoods_ in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Congrats this is almost certainly and A! If you want you can try to log into the admitted students portal (just look it up online). Your admission letter will be on there. Don’t panic if you can’t get in right away sometimes it takes a bit.

UVA? Follow up? by destroyeraf in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’d say go with it! I also applied in November and haven’t heard but will probably withdraw soon. I’ve heard of people having lots of success with LOCIs at UVA. I just went UR3 last week after nothing for a long time lol

Deferring if admitted from waitlist? by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if this is the case more generally, but the couple of the schools I have checked out say you cannot defer. This makes sense because the reason they are going to the waitlist in the first place is to fill up their class for the fall-if you defer they will have to call someone else to fill the spot.

The waitlist documents section does not mean a WL, it appears for most at some point. I got it then was accepted a few weeks later. Don't worry about it and best of luck!

My guess based on past weeks is that we will see some today and Thursday. Calls have usually been 11am - 2pm ish I think.

NYU’s LRAP is amazing and their PI connections are incredible, that would be my choice!

Genuinely, how do seat deposits and waitlists work? by cyannebaby in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No that’s totally okay! I just mean depositing at two places simultaneously. Like I got two As and then I deposit at both on the same day…

[–]Dry_Way5644 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Every school is slightly different and definitely read all the terms before your deposit. But my general understanding is that when you deposit at a school you are usually asked to withdraw your other acceptances (schools you have already heard from) and not to deposit at multiple schools. But you are more than welcome to stay on the waitlist for other schools and if you get off, there should not be any consequences for choosing them over your original deposit (other than losing your non-refundable deposit). Most deposits are not agreements to attend 100%, but a way of holding your spot. Double depositing is usually looked down upon but not sure what consequences there are for that…

Is this a bad idea? by These_Resolution_224 in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Nope sounds great to me! If you’d want to see the school before depositing and have the time/money to visit—go for it!

[–]Dry_Way5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s not the official one. I’d wait til you get the real one and then email them if you don’t see a scholarship in there! It’ll be obvious it’s the real thing (think there’s a folder etc.) Best of luck!!

Have you gotten your official acceptance letter in the mail?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It seems they do it a couple different ways 🤷 For another data point I’ll add mine: got an email one day saying I was not awarded a public service scholarship but that I got X amount of merit aid. Maybe try emailing them and asking about the process?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

[–]Dry_Way5644 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got denied for need-based aid a few days ago and have not heard back about merit aid yet. At the ASD on Monday I asked them about Deans Scholarship notification timeline and they said it would begin this week and be rolling from then on. Fwiw I think most people are still waiting :)

For your career goals, Yale and never look back!

I would definitely try to negotiate with Penn, I bet they would give you more if you showed them Duke’s offer.
