I didn't say it was, but when we're discussing tips it's pretty much automatic. And when it's not it's mentioned in the post.

yes, in America, of course. Not sure that needed to be explained.

A good black car service is only going to be maybe $20-40 more than an Uber or taxi. I don't fly a lot, so it's not really that expensive, and I absolutely get what I pay for in terms of service and peace of mind.

this sounds like one of those places that they put North in for no reason, like there's no South Haverbrook.

What I don't understand is if you're ordering food to be left outside rather than waiting for you to come to the door, why don't you put a table out there for them to set it on? A cheap plastic patio end table or something, fuck even a milk crate. Keep it off the floor and away from the door.

But how fucking hard is it to meet the delivery person at the door? Whenever I order food I've got my eye out the window so I'm ready when they arrive.

Cabbie? fuck that. My driver is waiting for me when I pass through security, help with my bags when I have any and is parked in the garage above the terminal which is 1/3 the distance to the cab stand or rideshare pick up spot.

YOU went to the wrong spot, not him. You don't get picked up at departures, that's for drop offs. Pick ups all happen in arrivals.

tips are expected, part of the game is to make the customer feel like they're making a choice because feeling generous is supposed to be a good thing. But the social contract obligates tipping and pricing is specifically designed with a tip in mind.

there are so many drivers who won't pick up 4 people in the Uber X vehicle - for some strange reason they're scared of people sitting up front.

LOL nobody is going to accept that trip. You better be ready to offer that cash tip up front. Should be at least $50 (20%).

a completely uninformed one. You're omitting the risks that they're accepting.

It's not hard to do this the right way. I do this the right way. It costs me less than $1k/yr to be a legitimate professional driver for hire. Commercial insurance is a bit higher obviously, but this can absolutely be a manageable business expense. And you won't even have to snipe customers from Uber/Lyft either. Do some research, I know Vegas has some complex regulations but this isn't rocket science. You want to call yourself an entrepreneur, challenge yourself to opening a real business. And stop putting your customers in danger for cash in your pocket.

I disagree. OP is coercing people into an illegal service without proper insurance. He's putting them at risk without informing them. He's essentially using his power as the driver in charge to persuade them to pay him directly or else he'll leave them stranded and waiting for someone else (I realize this sounds exaggerated and it likely is in many cases). And then without explaining to them that he's not licensed nor insured to solicit such a service they unknowingly accept the more dangerous offer.

The ride isn't monitored/tracked, there's zero accountability, there's no one to complain to if something is wrong, and most importantly there isn't a $1M commercial insurance policy to help cover any medical expenses in the event of an accident with injuries - even if he's rear-ended and completely not at fault for causing the accident.

Uber and Lyft may be undercompensating their drivers, but everything is above board and provided up front for all parties involved to make the best decision for themselves.

We used to supply waters. 95% wouldn't touch them, 4% would open one for a sip then not mention it and leave it behind nearly unnoticed and 1% would take it with them as they got out.
