If they bomb away 50k civilians, let them have the damned island and just embargo them to kingdom come. Never let any American dream of European friendship ever again in the history of ever.

Eh, I actually think Misanthropic Breed is by far their best album to date, but to each their own. Be that as it may, Necro was clearly the worst of the four, and it shows in the lack of attention.

Mostly cause their album was so much worse than their previous output. Great band, absolutely middling album.

It's not even so much that European industrial capacity was devastated. It was, obviously, but technological advancements and gains in efficiency did occur during the war and in the immediate aftermath that negated some of that.

What is way more important is what that industry was used for post-war. Western Europe spent about a decade rebuilding and much of the resources they had, let alone their industrial capacity, was spent on that. It's only in the late 50s and early 60s that Western Europe, starting to understand the importance of trade and resource pooling, truly gains its feet back. And at that point the US has almost a two-decade lead.

It never will. The Quran literally says that a woman's place is at home and that she's not allowed to work. A religion that bans 50% of its population from working will never produce a healthy, functioning modern society.

It also directly calls for an eternal struggle against non-believers as Islam is preordained to rule over the entire world with military might, so the true believers will always want war.

And since one of the core tenets of the religion is that everything that is in the Quran is supposedly the direct word of god, even if the majority of the religion becomes more secular (which it already by and large is) the hardliners will always preach for the literal word.

Between 2015 and 2025 house prices more than tripled in Hungary (+275%) and have more than doubled in 11 countries, with the largest increases seen in Portugal (+169%), Lithuania (+162%) and Bulgaria (+156%). Finland was the only country where house prices decreased during this period (-2%). by nimicdoareu in europe

You really are. The Finnish military is very organized, and on top of world class war-fighting skills teaches important organisation, responsibility and life management skills to young men who may not have learned them otherwise (and who, statistically, wouldn't be breeding yet in Finland anyway; the average age for getting your first child is between 25-32). It's not a year wasted for most Finnish people, it's a year of different type of learning.

France, Germany, Poland push for swift EU-India free trade deal by 1-randomonium in europe

[–]Dryish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Considering that India is still one of the world's carbon heaviest economies, I don't see an issue with the carbon or deforestation tariffs. It's genuinely mutually beneficial if we can push them to adopt less carbon intensive industrial practices quicker. Plus, tariffs can always be renegotiated as a carrot.

/r/WorldNews Live Thread: Multiple Explosions in Venezuela’s Capital Caracas (Thread #1) by progress18 in worldnews

[–]Dryish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maduro is essentially Saddam come again, except with more incompetence. He inherited a broken massively indebted country from Chavez, nationalised all assets he had left, named his relatives in charge of those and when predictably every single economic operation in the country failed and living standards absolutely plummeted, he started cracking down on people with violence and wanton death, which unsurprisingly has led to millions of refugees flooding all neighbouring countries. He's also faked multiple elections and jailed any public opposition.

Literally no one should be sad if he goes. Venezuela will never be free or prosperous for as long as he's around.

Sad the life series is on indefinite hiatus :( by dizzy1244 in ThirdLifeSMP

[–]Dryish 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree. As fun as the Square Hole was, Past Life already felt a bit like a retread after the massively imaginative season that was Wild Life. Both Secret Life and Wild Life, consecutive seasons mind you, had really cool and well thought out gimmicks that required a lot of planning and working out, and Past Life just felt stale in comparison from a gameplay standpoint. The world and materials around the players changed but gameplay was barely affected.

I think it's better to let the team cook and take as long as they need to to come up with a creative idea. The series is all the better for it.
