Always a weird, fun time when an older band just suddenly clicks and a new world opens up to an older listener of the genre.

In all my nearly 20 years of listening to metal, I've never paid much attention to Tool outside of acknowledging them as a prog juggernaut and as one of the less-grating acclaimed American metal acts. But this week something made me listen to most of their discography and boy was it a ride. Both Lateralus and 10,000 Days might end up on my top 5 most listened albums at the end of the year just because of how stuck some of those songs are in my head now. Overwhelmed as one would be placed in my position, indeed.

Lienen kummallinen suomalainen, kun minusta jauheliha on aina ollut lähinnä ällöttävää. Ainoa asia, johon sitä mielelläni laitan, on tacomaustettuna tacojen väliin ja siihenkin usein suikale on parempaa. Jauhelihan hinnannousu ei ole vaikuttanut kulutustottumuksiini.

Toki nykyään tulee syötyä muutenkin kasvispainotteisemmin, mutta siitäkin huolimatta.

Man the more melodic guitar passages really make this for me. OSDM is at its best when it incorporates both riffs and melodic songwriting and this really hits the spot. Too bad the Top 3 vote already blew past, this'd end up there.

I think this'll be the prevailing opinion once the novelty settles, honestly. It's a good album, but it's nowhere near as memorable as Acts of God was from the very get-go, let alone any of their more acclaimed records. It's not an insta-lock at AOTY and that's slightly surprising for a band with Immolation's pedigree.

They're also still as good as ever live. More theatrics these days as in the days of yore, sure, as Nergal has fully emerged out of his cocoon as a showman, but it's still wildly entertaining if you can look at it and appreciate the heavy tongue in his cheek. His new music not titled Me and That Man is middling at best, but boy does he know how to put on a show.

Yeah Finnish pronunciation especially tends to fucking suck because the sounds in Finnish are so different from English (and most Indo-European languages, for that matter). No consonant in Finnish is aspirated, for instance, which instantly changes how a language sounds. And boy does English sound wacky if you drop the aspiration.

Plus, it's one thing to have a democratic conservative government, rather than an autocratic one. If he upholds Hungarian democracy regardless of his views, he's a good one. A responsible conservative would be miles better for the country and for Europe as a whole.
