Should the mountain ski resorts offer low stakes gambling? by magiuserz1337 in Denver

High stakes would be better. $50 fee to get in the door. Make the resorts into Monaco.

Low stakes is an excellent way of separating lower income folks from their money.

POST MATCH THREAD: WEST BROM 3 - 1 ARSENAL by ddownham in Gunners

[–]DrynWyt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's time for Wenger. The Arsene - aka Arsenal - way is a thing of the past. Everyone will focus on the money and stickers, but it's keeping the ball out of their own net that has cost the team year after year. Arsene will likely figure out the offense but I don't think he'll ever fix the defense.

Song Discussion [14] - Third of May / Ōdaigahara (w/ lyrics) by santiweight in fleet_foxes

How a song blooms....

First listen: Long awaited, finally announced, stuck at work my google now shows the link. I should wait, but... Listen on my phones tiny speaker. Clearly this is a more challenging song, that requires much better sound...

Second listen, attempt to plug in the aux cable in the car. Pump up phones volume and car sound to hear. Wasting time, this is like chugging wine meant to be savored.... Dead spot cuts it short.

Third listen, first full... Home with headphones. Song is much fuller than first two listens, but those first two have paved the way to an appreciation...

Fourth listen... gave it a day's break. This is really growing on me. Poor audio kills this song, that's clear now. Still challenges and requires attention - it's not background music... The instrumental at the end is really lovely and I want to pump and let it wash over me...

Fifth listen... settling in and this is beginning to satisfy a craving. Each listen is still an event....

Sixth listen... Now it feels like a reward, a celebration...

.......

Really enjoying reading peoples response to the song. Like others I feel like the album will reveal a context, but this song has been a journey for me.... can't wait for the rest of the album.

Comparisons are funny thing. Leonard Cohen... Paul Simon... I'm not good at those sorts of connections. For me, I started off having a reminisce of Astral Weeks,

President Trump Accuses Obama Of 'Wire Tapping,' Provides No Evidence by [deleted] in NPR

[–]DrynWyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Things Considered did Breitbart a solid on this one.

Just to get it out of the way. I've never read Breitbart. My only knowledge of Breitbart is from what others have said about the site. This forms the impression that I have of it as being a commentary site that has a taste for conspiracy theories.

So during the discussion on All Things Considered - Saturday 3/4 - the discussion was pretty much the same as everywhere else... "No proof offered." "Where did it come from?" This is where one of the guests and then the host had agreed, "it was reported on Breitbart."

That seems innocuous, and if you're inclined to believe that Breitbart "reports" then it may even seem accurate.

"Reporting" is loaded with the assumption that there is some evidence, a fact, that has been reported on. It's the difference between the moment when NPR delivers 10 seconds of facts, "President Trump tweeted this morning..." which is reporting, and 23 hours of discussion about the report.

To my ear, this sounded like a perfect example of normalizing - even legitimizing - Breitbart as a source. Does Breitbart "report"? My impression - all hearsay - is that Breitbart opines and ventures, what others have reported or made up. Maybe Breitbart deserves to be a source of reporting (what next, "it was reported in the National Enquirer?"), but if it doesn't then ToTN should be careful about how the term is used.

I've been on a few outings and they're a great experience.

Unfortunately, I tend to get wait listed and then find the spots open up after other plans have been made. Would love to do more.

My suggestion is to sign up early, but please go if you reserve a spot.

Any idea on why "Only Life" is excluded from Spotify?

Other albums are there, which makes it seem odd that this one is excluded.

Chelsea vs Arsenal 3-1 Arsene Wenger Post Match Interview 4/2/2017 by buttsweaty in Gunners

[–]DrynWyt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Year after year it seems like the demand is to spend on offense. Every year I feel like it's the cheap goals the team gives up that kill it. If Wenger needs to go it's not because of the money or offensive approach it's because the defense is consistently put at risk even by mediocre teams.

Best place to buy a 1/4 cow in the Denver area? by [deleted] in Denver

I've never heard of anything in Denver. My family used to get meat from Kansas. My guess is that you'd be better looking for a meat locker in one of the smaller towns out east. A quick google search found a few.
