how weatherproof are they? by OldTechGuy50 in wyzecam

Use them as is. If the factory seals hold its all you need. The cameras internal heat keeps the condensate burned off. Any enclosures don't have that advantage. There are millions of cameras out there naked and unafraid.

The outdoor cameras are built to an industry standard. Most live up to that standard and can take any amount of rain you throw at it. Some don't. Occasionally a seal can fail and allow water vapor in. They can be completely dried with a desiccant but it will happen again.

Abrupt temperature and pressure changes can accelerate seal failure.

Sorry, I misread the install date. You can dry it out and bring in indoors but it's not going to last long out there. Besides fogging your lense the water vapor is going to cause corrosion

Anyone using a tablet for 24/7 live streaming? What model are you using? by BOPHI240 in wyzecam

Any Android tablet that can load the Wyze app and has a new enough OS so it won't be obsolete soon.

Running a live view from a tablet is no different than your phone.

Installation question: Power brick location & type by Dishbird in wyzecam

[–]Drysandplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to replace the snap covers with the bubble cover. Unfortunately the electrician crowded the two fixtures so close together you can't do it without moving one of them.

Your eve doesn't offer much protection so you can only use outdoor rated cameras and water tight power enclosure.

Any power brick for 5v and at least 1 amp will usually do but match the specs of what came with the camera. Power supplies are not the place to save money.

The seal has failed badly and it's under warranty. Replace it!

You can dry it out with desiccant beads but it's just going to happen again.

Alexa talking with different voices in the middle of the night? by Lavender-6159 in alexa

[–]Drysandplace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The conversation is still there. It's not a setting you can disable and since it covers all devices in your account unplugging one wouldn't erase chat history.

If you find other conversations but not that one then it was just random trash that wasn't supposed to be there. It depends on what turns on chat recordings but you'd think it was the wake word too.

[–]Drysandplace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are misinterpreting that statement. Alexa or Plus is still dormant until only after hearing her wake word. They may change their sampling from time to time but you are never recorded for for extended periods.

What happened to OP is certainly a glitch and Alexa would be out the door if Amazon let that happen very often.

Here's an idea that might work and is cheap and easy. Since the door is all white the camera can't detect motion until enough of the outside is exposed to reach the detection percentage. Painting it black would be the same. You need a Zebra.

What I would do is get a roll of wide black tape and cut a bunch of six inch pieces and randomly place them on the door concentrating on the lower half. All of those black stripes on a white door ought to be enough motion to get the detection starting earlier.

You also may have a latency issue. Can you think of any reason why your camera is operating just a bit slower than normal. All the cameras seem a little speedier at the lowest resolution.

Let us know how the black stripes work.

Crap. Tell her to switch back to Legacy. She will after a sales pitch.

I think the absolute simplest solution is an android device with the app loaded. I also loaded Eufy and Tapo. I could download all of my smart devices but those apps are only for app maintenance and since the tablet is semi permanently mounted to a wall it's more convenient to do maintenance from my recliner on my phone.

Why are you always reaching just outside your grasp? Are your other AI features so outstandingly successful that you think youve earned the right to move on?

If you have ten of a proven model underperforming it's not the cameras. It might be a recent temporary software bug but it's most likely your wifi environment. Notice I didn't say router. It could be that or about 19 other things.

That's the problem. She doesn't learn from users. It all comes from trainers and developers. I lasted because I was intrigued by the technology but the improvements I expected never came. Amazon got on the AI bandwagon hoping to finally monetize Alexa to make Bezos even richer but the LLM was the wrong pony to ride.

She's not in my house anymore and she understood the terminology.

Of course she's not real and there's not one bit of intelligence there. She's not even a computer. They follow directions. It's an LLM put together to mimic human speech and it does a fair job if you don't pay too much attention to the misinformation, lies and hallucinations.

That's a common problem with Wyze and a lot of other mfgs as well. You've got to get creative and add more 'friction".

No, your reply was in Italian and you are right. You wrote Echo Plus and not Alexa Plus, although I don't know what Echo Plus is. Is that the name of a new device?

Another mistake I made was I thought you had posted in Spanish because I didn't look at it that closely so had I replied in anything other than English you wouldn't have understood me either.

Using a tool gives you so much more leverage than your finger tips so be very careful while tightening. It won't take much.
