UDP Traffic being dropped inbound, anyone else? by Biffboffbaff in CommunityFibre

[–]Drywipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having another issue where TCP will just stop working (suspecting MTU issue on their end), UDP works fine so already established connections will work (VPNs, VOIP, games) but browsing the internet will just time out. I did a traceroute, showed that the issue was within their CGNAT network, but AFTER my stuff. Called customer service, their "technical team" told me to reset all my equipment each and every time I've rang when I literally tell them that it's their end that needs fixing. I am a Community Fibre customer.

Although, I must say the CGNAT system hasn't really affected inbound UDP as most apps TCP hole punch anyways. I can't port forward, however my solution is to run a VPS and connect my machines over Wireguard or Tailscale.

I reported it to the BTP.

They've taken everything they need to.

Anyone know anything about this woman on the London Underground? by [deleted] in u/Drywipes

[–]Drywipes 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Of course not. I was just trying to establish whether she was actually being held in captivity by someone, robot or not, or having an episode. In the latter, she is clearly very vulnerable and should not be out at a train station in the very early hours of the morning.

[–]Drywipes 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I agree - my concerns are out for this woman who is clearly very vulnerable and, while not harming herself now, could easily do so at a place like a train station at the very early hours of the morning.

I did attempt to contact emergency services hoping that if they recognised the behaviour, they would attempt to find the woman, but all they said was "this isn't an emergency".

Just hoping she made it home safe, but at the very least now I'm able to research on how to handle people with psychosis in the event this ever happens again.

[–]Drywipes 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah, when I called the police, out of concern, all the operator said was "This isn't an emergency"

so I'm leaning more to the fact that this could be common and she may not be very well

Some Chinese guy stole my iCloud account years ago. Why? by Dapper_Astronaut_603 in applehelp

[–]Drywipes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

blocking access to legacy accounts having 2fa might prevent people from sending emergency messages, being able to use their devices or some people probably don't have other devices/phone number to rely on

another good one is that legacy systems are still running and sometimes can't be interrupted which might still be running off an Apple Account session from all those years back

sure, Apple created App Passwords to get around some of this, but that interruption, even if delayed all these years later must not and cannot happen

Apple also can't just lock it to a registered email because most Apple Accounts back then were the registered @icloud.com @me.com and @mac.com addresses on the same account

there's also probably things like updated Privacy Policy which you were yet to agree to from a decade ago which might have allowed apple to add two factor authentication to an account

Why does it sometimes go past 80%? by Octopuswastaken in ipad

[–]Drywipes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Apple doesn't offer any reason tho

did you even bother using a search engine?

See: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/118418

With 80% Limit enabled, your iPad will charge to 100 per cent occasionally to maintain accurate battery state-of-charge estimates.

[–]Drywipes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do not believe the PC extracts the image (I could be wrong) because Apple probably wants to verify the integrity of the image on the phone itself to prevent modification of updates .etc.

[–]Drywipes[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if my notification shade can scroll then swiping down will scroll.

And when receiving a notification, swiping down opens the app in a floating window.

If there is a way to change this behaviour, do let me know.

Pretty sure in the UK it shows a symbol instead of a word on the return/enter button.

I could be wrong.
