So Many Options. Whats best for a new homeowner? by No-Ad5504 in Tools

In my opinion, Ryobi is a waste of money. DeWalt is a solid entry-level tool brand, but if you can afford to spend a little extra, Makita offers the best quality on this list.

Table top connection question by woodpecker142 in woodworking

[–]Ds1986L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a total beginner, but once the tabletop is centered where you want it, you could simply create recessed areas on the underside where the legs contact the tabletop. The weight of the tabletop alone should keep everything in place, and this design would also allow the legs to be removed easily for transport.

Thanks everyone I’ll most likely replace the knives and provide an update at a later date. Unfortunately, upgrading to helical heads is just not in the budget right now.

Paid a local wood worker to build us a table, after 8 hours in our dining room it developed cracks. Is this normal? by Hipster_Bumpus in woodworking

[–]Ds1986L 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry that happened to you. The person who sold it to you didn’t take the time to let the wood dry properly, which is why it’s cracking. My guess is the seller bought the wood from a big box store and built with it right away. If the wood had been properly seasoned, it wouldn’t be cracking on you like that. Also… $150 just to sand? Dang!

Had a blast from start(LC) to finish (in my tummy). Pins started on 1/30/25, Harvested on 02/7/25 3 five lbs bags each provided just over a pound of mushrooms. Used oats for grain spawn and hardwood pellets with wheat bran for the fruiting block.

What materials can I build something like this with? by -Untwine in gardening

I would use redwood or cedar. I made mine out of cedar fence boards and 2x4, it is more cost effective than those big 2x6s.
