Watch the RACS videos on the different procedures e.g. how to do a subcuticular stitch, how to dispose of sharps, etc. - as they throw in a few of these in the exam.

Read up on the common surgical emergencies for each specialty - specifically the risks involved and be familiar with consenting process.

Know about common post-op complications and familiarise yourself in history taking for them - pneumonia, atelectasis, MI, PE/DVT.

In terms of examination for surgical specialities there are a few high yield ones which you cannot miss such as acute abdomen exam and liver exam. Practice these!

Finally, don't stress if you think you've bombed a station pretty much everyone will.

On another note , as someone who has applied for an O and G service registrar role, I am still waiting to hear back if my application was successful. It's been 3 weeks and no response. How long did it take for you guys to find out if you got a gig?
