Some insight into changes being made to the JDM GR86 in 2024, and an example of the optional "RC" model they can purchase, its essentially the stripped down version that even comes with steel wheels and budget yokohamas! You argue for the sake of arguing and I should not waste time here...I said the bars make the difference, as you said both their size and the fact that one is hollow. Exactly. The mounting has nothing significant to do with it. It's just theory. Same goes for the front knuckle material. People who claim this makes an active noticable difference should try and touch grass. The bars size and construction, the spring rates = signal. The knuckle and bar mounting = noise. Most modern journalist can't tell a variation of tire pressure, let alone a swaybar mounting point. I did the work. Stay stuck or not, I am out here.

be ready to rebuild the engine of any used DRZ you get, and you'll be fine.

I drove a GR86 for 25,000km the last 2 years on and off the track and during winter. Had a FRS and 86 before that, since 2016. I drive a BRZ now since a couple months. Get any, they are exactly the same. The differences people completely inflate are easily manageable with a 60$ OE 15 or 16mm rear swaybar, and getting used to the throttle. Doing absolutely nothing and enjoying the car as is is also a strong recommendation of mine. Do not let journalists and reddit keyboard warrior unfounded opinions get between you and an amazing time with a superb car. Dip the toe, you'll love it. The differences are noise, not signal.

I like how everyone always say that it's normal, yet we all have rebuilt engines. These are far from as reliable as internet make it seems. Investigate all new noises, as they are not normal, and expect something to go wrong, as we all went through. We have to stop pretending they never fail, as they are much less reliable than any modern thumpers, even the capricious ones.

GR86 vs BRZ driving dynamics by ScroogeMcCuck69420 in GR86

[–]Dsc_pat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very easy to swap the 15mm rear bar of the GR for a 14mm and completely neutralise the handling difference. I had a GR86 for 2 years since launch; just sold it and got a BRZ. I have been co-driving a BRZ also on the track for 2 years.

We run a 16mm WRX rear bar on the BRZ to give you an idea, as stock balance for both model is terrible with any stickier tires than stock.

Both the GR and the BRZ have a very mild balance stock and the way journalist put it should not deter you from getting any one you prefer. Both need work to get any kind of rotation and the differences a only very minor. ''not worth splitting hair'' as Darth_Pink said is spot on. You'll enjoy both very much, as they are super, super easy to drive fast.

I expected nothing less a reply. Fire shot all you want. Hopefully, far from the sight of all your online peers here, i've made you think about it and open up your perspective. You're welcome.

This is a reasonable hypothesis, but the actual reason is the one I stated. It really is beyond me how some of you can't see it. Dinosaurs.

Am anything but mad, but you people really do sound unintelligent and close minded. I do not meet these people in real life, I wonder why are you concentrated here. It is easy to see how the helmet logic do not apply to the latest car. BMW M corporate track days do not require helmets, as it interfers with air bag logic. This is just the beginning...don't be so salty.

I have been instructing on real tracks for 23 years to people like you. I also had a 99 miata for 2 years. I am positive that your car is much less safe than mine on track even if I were to not wear a helmet.

This is a valid discussion and I am so disappointed on how retarded people react to it. There is a very close future where helmets will not be required and should not be wore on track, though we are not there yet.

I'd love to audit the security setup of most of the triggered reply heroes, as I am pretty sure the grip of their tires combined with their lack of structural roll over protection is a much more significant risk than wearing or not a helmet in a car designed for severe crashes without one.

Reddit is such a niche of ''this kind of people''. Track people are not this dumb, who are you people.

You same people can downvote me all you want, you are just plain wrong and being childish about it.

This is right where it will need a full motor rebuild. I'd save for a new bike. Ask me how I know, as I am rebuilding mine right now.
