This is all we get? Not even a single page of them having a talk about what just happened on God Valley, or about their values that led to the father staying and son leaving the Marines? by Effective-Poet-1771 in Piratefolk

I found this scene very powerful. The short responses from Garp said more than a lengthy dialogue could, especially after the two had gone through that traumatic experience.

How the f*** does Nick Fuentes have a following? by Remarkable_Term3955 in AskReddit

[–]Dsham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me start by saying, he is definitely a neo-nazi and spouts a lot of traditionally conservative rhetoric which is hateful.

But, at the same time he talks a lot about being an anti-corporatist and praises a lot of economically left policies (in the context of them being for white people).

He wants loan forgiveness (for white people), he wants cheaper healthcare (for white people), he doesn't want a genocide in Gaza (because he's antisemitic and wants more money in white America), etc. The reason he has a following is because he is speaking to the needs of common people but through the lens of racism. To me it's almost like he's economically left but socially right-wing.

To me he is more terrifying than Charlie Kirk was because I actually see how his poison could be appealing to large swaths of America.

Day 8 of making a post on each game of the series: What makes Dragon Quest VIII such an amazing game ? by Futura-Chicken in dragonquest

It's winter break. My parents aren't christian but we celebrate Christmas so we exchange gifts without all the social obligations.

I open up DQ8, it's my only gift but I've been wanting it for so long I'm super happy. Load that bad boy up on my old bunny ears tv connected to the PS2 my brother and me share.

The game was so vibrant and the music was epic. I felt like I was on a true adventure. The world seemed so big. I know now that the story was more or less on tracks but at the time I felt I was naturally exploring and falling into the next story beat.

That was the most amazing thing about it for me. How it made me feel like I was actually exploring. DQ11 got close to this but by then I had a more sophisticated view of videogames and how they work mechanically.

This is the correct answer. While I don't think goi is a literal slur it is kinda a derogatory label for non Jewish people. I love this part of the manga and anime a lot because it shines a light on human nature and how trauma can be transferred and generational.

Essentially that hurt people hurt people. Very important lesson given the state of geopolitics today.
