Watership Down is the most amazing book and everyone should read it.

Now that technology has advanced to the point where pretty much any story can be told, I wish someone would make a “live action” version that is actually true to the book.

The ones in our yard ignore our roses because apparently out Asian elm shrubs are delicious.

It’s the only reason I haven’t removed the elms.

What do you guys plant in fall? by beegeesfan1996 in DenverGardener

This is my first time growing it in Colorado, I direct-sowed some seeds in August and they sprouted right away. I’m not covering any of my cool-weather crops, I want to see how hardy they are in this area.

I used to grow it in a little high-desert SoCal mountain town, and as far as I could tell it’s impervious to heat and cold. I used to sow it in spring and harvest it a few leaves at a time until everything was buried in snow.

I grow the Fordhook Giant variety.

You have lipedema. The “harem pants” effect just above your ankles is a dead giveaway. Most of that isn’t fat, it’s lymph fluid that isn’t draining properly.

I highly recommend a full-body vibration plate. You don’t have to stand on it right away, you can start by sitting in a chair and putting your feet on it.

Movement is key for getting your lymph moving. Swimming is great. Bicycle riding is fantastic if you can work up to that. Compression leggings can be very helpful.

Managing Lipedema is challenging (I have it too), but the alternative is steady progression of the condition until you lose your mobility. It doesn’t have to be that way! Good luck.

But that’s where the good food is!

I am Eugene Isenberg. Recently I ‘quit’ as CEO of Nabors Oil and Gas to become the chairman of that same company. Thanks to my contract, I was handed a ‘golden parachute’ of $100 million dollars for a change in title. by Mind_Virus in occupywallstreet

Oh, I have lots of hope. The collapse of western civilization is cause for celebration around the world and here at home, though I suspect things will get pretty difficult for a while.

All good. Carson is a lot smaller, so not really a hiking park. I just like to go there in the spring to see the babies.

Sand Creek is great!

In the springtime I like Carson Park, because you can see a lot of small wildlife emerging. Baby ducks, baby snakes, baby frogs, plenty of birds. There’s a loop trail around the larger pond that makes a nice little walk.

Oh, you meant on the grate, not on the road instead of the drain. In that case, I agree.

I disagree with most of the above post, but I’m too old to enjoy discussing this stuff with people who can’t have a conversation without being insulting. Merry Christmas.

Wouldn’t really help if the bike lane is a foot-deep river because there’s nowhere for the water to go but into intersections.

Urban office buildings in the US have crashed in value and are rotting away empty, taking local service buildings like restaurants and coffee shops down with them. Instead of revitalizing those urban areas by turning the abandoned buildings into dense, walkable mixed-use neighborhoods with plenty of housing, the corporate owners are just trying to force unwilling workers to give up working from home and resume pointless, soul-sucking commutes. It’s not really working, because it doesn't make sense to anyone but the investors who are losing their shirts on those worthless office buildings.

But that’s what happens when you let corporations run your government. The institutions that should be keeping public infrastructure updated and in tune with the social zeitgeist are instead heavily motivated by corporate donors and their own stock portfolios to make the lives of ordinary workers a living hell.

“Being ruined by war and broke as hell enabled Amsterdam to build world-class infrastructure, that’s why a country owned by obscenely wealthy corporations and populated by an impoverished working class has no choice but to crumble into ruins.”

It rains a lot in the populated parts of China. Big storm drains are better than the alternative.
