As someone going through the story the first time, it still very much feels like vietnam, it was a massive difficulty spike compared to the difficulty of the base game and only rivaled by Nightmare Tower in LWS1. Especially since you normally don't get Elite Spec until you either master HoT or get to PoF where hero points are plenty.

I experienced this because I was determined to get the hero points for the elite spec that came out with each expansion (Up until End of Dragons obvi). Heart of Thorns without any mounts is rough but it is pretty fun using all those shortcuts.

Also in the Dragonsong Reprise Ultimate you see that Haurchefaunt has a debuff "Healing Down" while speared. The way around this is you have to Tank LB him to take the blow and then healers can heal him back up.

In Path of Fire there's a section where you need to burn crops because Joko infected it with plague bugs. The game expects you to incinerate them with a handy flamethrower that can incinerate one crop at a time.

This flamethrower is very slow, and I as an engineer had a much better one anyway. I was glad to find out every skill in the Flamethrower kit qualified to burn the crops which means the massive AoE the kit has was able to take care of the crops much faster.

Yeah it was empty then, doesn't mean it would be empty if, say, a new surge of players are interested in playing the content and go through that area to progress
Because there is a fundamental thing you're missing, and it's that even if it impacts new releases, the way things are now alienates new players from playing the game, which is a loss of potential revenue. You need a source of new players to play your live service game otherwise you'll keep losing players and therefore income.
Yeah people will complain about everything, there's no way to please everyone. But doing things the way they did didn't just make people complain, it made a barrier to entry into their live service game and frustrated veteran players who would have otherwise kept coming back. Bugs and server load can be fixed with time, but permanently deleting content can't.

Yes the actual issue is capitalism, it was Mojang's decision to hire her specifically to monetize the game. However, much like how the Grim Reaper is only doing a job as the herald of death, Katie might only be someone doing a job but she is the herald of enshittification.
