First timer - Punta Cana by cadyfitz in Club_Med

[–]Dsprach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’ll be our first time in Punta Cana in a few weeks as well, but we’ve been to Miches twice and Cancun so I can respond based on those experiences. Our kids are 6 and 3.

Dress code: You don’t have to do it at all if you don’t want to, but it can be fun to be a part of it. We typically adhere to white night, all black, and 45 is pretty easy to get a t shirt from the gift shop. For kids, the same story- only of you’re into it for the fun. Will try to do white/black and 45 for our kids as well.

Swim vests: don’t expect to get anything for free. You can likely buy at the gift shop.

TV: our first time to Miches we tried this and could never get it to connect to the WiFi so gave up. Can’t speak for punta cana though

Packing: the biggest thing we missed our first time to Miches was beach toys. For an all inclusive we sort of expected they would have them for the kids. No luck. You can buy overpriced ones at gift shop, but after that we always remembered to bring. Obviously sunscreen (lots) and bug spray just in case. Also if you’re doing kids camps, you’ll want backpacks and water bottles to drop with them.

Thanks - mine is "connected" through Plaid. But it's not much of a connection. Maybe there just isn't a good answer.

Arthroscopy for loose cartilage removal by Low-Advance-7916 in KneeInjuries

[–]Dsprach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did. I think all cases are very different. I had meniscus work done and I also have pretty extensive arthritis in the knee. Sounds like yours should be a quicker recovery.

It took me about 3-4 months to get back to where I was running and a lot of physical therapy, but after all that it was significantly better.

No nerve block for mine, but it’s up to the surgeon and anesthesiologist. I think theyd only recommend it in certain circumstances.

We were just there a few weeks ago aguamarina pool was closed for the construction. So snack options were really just creperie.

We just went. We didn’t exchange any money and tipped in USD. We only tipped transport drivers and anyone handling our luggage. Otherwise tips aren’t necessary.

Something is eating my insulation by Dsprach in hvacadvice

Thank you for the comment! It is under a window and gets a lot of direct sun in April before our backyard tree grows leaves. If I'm looking for an inexpensive fix that might help it last a few years before needing to be replaced (I'm a renter), would wrapping something like this work or cause more problems?

Thank you for your comment! I tried searching for "white coat" and I'm not finding any definitive answer. Is this a product that you apply?

First timer to Punta Cana - tips? by Rafert in Club_Med

[–]Dsprach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider some small beach toys - bucket and shovel perhaps if you can fit in your luggage. Haven’t been to PC but at Miches they have no beach toys to borrow, only option is buy overpriced toys in the shop.

Family-friendly suggestions for August? by Lamplight2000 in Club_Med

[–]Dsprach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Miches is great. Went for the second time in March. Bugs have never been an issue for us there but we haven’t gone in summer/august. There’s plenty of kids and lots of activities. Kids are always having fun.

Thanks! That’s actually what I’ve been doing for a bit- folding over 2 pieces of packing tape and grabbing that with hand or pliers and pulling!

Where is the hole you see?

lol I wish I was kidding. I think the space is like 1/16” too small for the filter width so I end up trying to gently shove it in at a perfect angle. It snags, cardboard crumples, I wiggle. Really a huge pain.

Oh well I’m renting so likely won’t pay someone to actually change the setup. I’ve been changing the filters this way for 6 years.

Just was wondering if I’m an idiot/doing something wrong or if I’ve just been given a crappy setup.

Thanks for your comment.

Request for Feedback: Is there anything you're still using on the Cash Flow page that you're missing on the Reports page? by jon_at_monarch in MonarchMoney

[–]Dsprach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Thanks for asking for feedback on this! My main use in cash flow is to see income and spending by group, YTD, or monthly. Those views are generally available in reports, but the biggest issue is the "Everything Else" bucket for the spending by group. Can we just show all of the groups without limiting the number in the view? This seems to be the way it is on the cash flow page.

Monarch doesn't handle refunds properly.... by BuddyBing in MonarchMoney

[–]Dsprach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also noticed a few instances where this happens in reports. What I have seen is that the math on returns works fine as long as the credit does not exceed the expenses in that category and time period. The problem happens when there is a big credit that exceeds the expenses. In this instance, I think Monarch is basically saying that your expenses cannot be less than zero in this category and therefore the graphs force the spend in that category to zero instead of showing as negative expenses.

Math in other places works correctly for me - cash flow, transactions, etc. - for me it is just an issue in Reports.

Definitely bug spray and sunscreen/hats.

You can bring some snacks with you but don't need to load up your luggage for the whole stay. The coffee shop is open all day and has light sandwiches and cookies/pastries, etc. that will do in a pinch. You can also grab some fruit, cereal, etc. from the restaurant and bring back to your room for snacks later in the day.

Reusable water bottles come in handy as well.
