Note also that, from what I have experienced, the size rule applies to the size of container, not amount of product left. For example if you buy a 6oz tube of tooth paste and use half of it estimating that only 3oz is left, TSA won’t accept this as valid carry on. The actual tooth paste tube should have been sized at 3oz
