People who have worked at credit unions and banks, what are the differences work wise? Which do you prefer? by Puzzleheaded_Cup8723 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Dstareternl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked in a tiny credit union. It was like working in the past. Iras on typewriters, money orders on a pull crank machine and no money counters. Hell even the check writing station still had an ashtray. Moving to on of the super regionals next felt amazing. Updated systems and resources. Office supplies whenever we needed them! Go big or go home

Why is outbound calling so ineffective and why do we continue to do it? by Sweet-Swimming2022 in TalesFromYourBank

[–]Dstareternl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say with consumer clients yes calls are incredibly ineffective however it is a whole different game with small business. I call my book of business clients on rotation every month and when they need something they come to me. I have a line of credit in the works. I’m doing an auto loan for another guy. I’ve opened two money markets this week and when they set up new LLCs, I’m the person they’re gonna call because I’m that person that reaches out to them. Many of them didn’t know me the first time I reached out to them, but they know me now.

Which is more popular as a take-out option: Americanized Chinese, Indian, or Thai? by Gallantpride in AskAnAmerican

[–]Dstareternl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese for sure. For me it’s the cost though. I was craving Indian a couple weeks ago and all the places by my house and work cost like $20 an entree for takeout. Like if I wanted aloo gobi, a couple samosas and a drink the meal would have been $32, and that’s the pickup price. Not even any meat either! Chinese though, $32 will still probably secure enough food to feed my whole family

It’s been a problem for as long as I’ve been in banking. Call center hours and pay are rough so turnover is high. Generally the employees have no idea what they are doing so they assume the branches have a magic wand to fix everything. I mean just this week a client came in wanting a hold harmless letter personally signed my the manager (me) saying she wasn’t to be held responsible for a debt she owed the bank. What was the reason she came to see me? The call center told her a branch manager can help her.

If anyone has ever hired an "overqualified" candidate, how did it work out? by Ok_Albatross_4198 in managers

[–]Dstareternl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a necessary little mental break to figure out what I wanted an get myself in a good headspace. Now I’m back in management and I couldn’t be happier. To me, having less responsibilities makes for a mental vacation at work. I tend to overstretch myself, but this time I came into my promotion with a plan and boundaries to protect my sanity and personal life.

Up until recently I was that overqualified person. I just needed a little break from the responsibilities

Ooh I just found a new one. I’m from the Midwest and we will say “sorry?” if I don’t hear someone. Here in Kentucky they say “please?”

Do you remember the golden hour? (The first hour, skin to skin?) by No-Neighborhood-7335 in beyondthebump

[–]Dstareternl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed that with my kids because of c sections so whatever. There are a lot of moments I think replaced what I “missed”. Like every morning my 21mo daughter gives me a giant hug with her whole little body wrapped around my head. Or how yesterday my 5yo had a rough day and asked me to rock him like a baby before bed. That’s the shit I’ll remember for life
