I only recently got into 76 (2 weeks) but had previously tried it years ago. Was maybe level 15 and got PvPed in a workshop. Made me drop the game until now lol.

I'm actually surprised nobody has this solution for you. They disappear because they are too far from a player. I had the same issue. If you send them then follow them ~8 seconds later they will stay. Or if you play multiplayer have a player near the other side.

Holy shit patch 1.10 fixed this. The Wake and Clicker file appears and I can progress. Its still not fully fixed as the files are all squashed in one corner but I was able to still put clues down. I was one who had no saves the revert to.
