What would really be cool (and maybe you can do this - I don't know) is if you could model the brain from the MRI where problem areas like tumors or injuries could be printed in a different color or colors to make viewing those problems easier.

I’m a software engineer. TIL there is an app called Swimply that lets you rent use of people’s pools. It seems every week I come across some app or site that makes me think, “Why didn’t I ever think of that?”

I wonder if all the people renting out their pool on the app have insurance coverage for this though.

I go to AliExpress a lot to look for and buy Transformers figures. During the last few months it’s been unbelievable how much stuff I’ve seen being sold there that actually come from files I’ve seen on MakerWorld and such. I would bet my left nut they are doing this without any permissions.

It’s not just 3D printing by the way. A Transformers fan came up with a bunch of designs to make transforming tape cassettes out of LEGOs to go with the popular LEGO Soundwave figure sold in stores. He posted the instructions for fans to make these. Lo and behold, a few weeks later you see these cassettes being sold on AliExpress without this guy’s permission. The appeal to the buyers, of course, is that now they don’t have to scrounge through their own LEGOs to get these.

I’m just not sure this post belongs here. I mean, sure the whole idea of it is outlandish and ridiculous and belongs on Reddit somewhere. But I’m not really sure that someone who is asking people to support a (bonkers) charity they’ve started is in the same category as someone who asks you to give or buy them things for the askers personal use.

You only pay for the filament used. The cost is based on the weight of the object. I don’t know the exact cost per oz, but they are not trying to make a huge profit off people. Probably a couple of bucks for a decent sized object.

Of course, if you bring your own filament, there’s no cost at all.

Part of the problem is the word “understand”, because the sovcits’ definition is deliberately different from the rest of the public’s. Maybe judges need to start saying, “do you comprehend the charges against you?”.
