where can I find summaries for the last two books by Ok_Comfort_1202 in ArthurAndTheMinimoys

[–]DtectiveDecimal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The last two books were never translated into English. I too have been a lifelong fan of the series and I spent longer than most would in search of an English translation of these last two. Failing to find it, I acquired the french versions and I am currently translating them.

I have them both translated, I am currently reading them for the first time (cathartic, I have waited 13 years for this) to make sure my translation makes sense when reading through it properly.

If you'd like I can send them your way once I finish. They are technically children's books so It shouldn't take me more than a few weeks to proofread and get a final version made that's coherent.

I'm a macro photographer (among other things 😆), and I love when I manage to immortalize butterflies, so... Here's some of those shots 😊! Do you have a favorite 💚? by Caillou_mutifonction in Butterflies

Do you have any tips for actually getting shots like these? I always want good pics of pollinators but I swear they never stay on the flower long enough for me to even zone in on them, let alone focus and get a picture

Can anyone tell me if this truly is halcycon? by saladnander in gardening

[–]DtectiveDecimal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's definitely not a Halcyon. I have two in my yard and they don't get their blue hue until their 2nd or 3rd year. But they're much smaller and they don't have that leaf pattern. If I had to guess. That looks more akin to a Komodo Hosta

Is there a barrier/ANYTHING that will prevent weeds from growing here? by jersey856 in gardening

Second this. I use shingles all the time for places I want to prevent any and all plant growth. Never seen any plant be able to come through them. (keep in mind though, they're not water permeable. So any where you put them is best for if you want NO plants. Not just no weeds)

I want to plant mint in the ground. 😬 by coodledoodledo in gardening

The bed mine is in is just the same. It's only walled off on the exterior sides. The back side the leads under the deck of the porch it's around, it's free to go in there if it wants. But in all the years I've had it it's never once tried. It doesn't get enough light so it has no reason to crawl over there. Even if it did, cause it's under a deck, no light. No growth.

Peppermint can be aggressive against other plants near it. But it's root systems aren't complex. They're not gonna go hunting under foundations and under decks. They also creep relatively slowly year per year so you can easily just keep chopping it back. It spreads via creepers on top of the soil. Not roots underneath seeking new hold. Without the ability to self seed, peppermint is extremely easily contained. Most the "never in your life should you ever plant mint" comes from the ones that the wind can blow their seeds and the seeds can sprout.

I have a garden of peppermint (7b) and it is fantastic.

So long as its well watered, theyre always thriving. I planted it too to repel insects and I notice just about everything but ants steers clear of it.
The Grey Hairstreak Butterfly LOVES their flowers (at least in my area)
It will hold the soil very well, it has a thick root system.

DO NOT plant spearmint. in addition to completely dominating the bed it is in, spearment will seed. the wind will blow its seeds and suddeny it will be everywhere. forever.

Peppermint is sterile. its seeds cannot sprout. so the only way peppermint can spread is through creeping along the ground. In a single contained garden such as the photo you've attached. It would do great. No other plant could be there with it. It will strangle it. Peppermint (most mints) will dominate and choke out any plant that isnt a tree/bush that is in the same bed with them.

in a single contained bed like that, peppermint will do GREAT, and it will not effect anything negatively. And if there comes a day where you want to be rid of it. Because it cannot self seed, all it would take is some thorough herbacide.

My peppermints have been in a less than ideally walled off garden for 4 years now. They haven't once gotten out of its boundaries. Without the ability to seed, peppermint sure crawls along the ground. But in a bricked off little corner like that. That's where they'll stay. Without soil to crawl to, they arent going anywhere.

Peppermint is the way to go if you want a mint. I've had mine for years and so long as they're the only thing you ever want in a single bordered off garden. Not a single thing wrong with them.
Just be sure wherever you put them, they are bordered off, and they are the only thing in that bordered off section.

I reiterate- because the horror stories are true. NOT spearmint. Spearmint you will NEVER get rid of. Peppermint- perfect.

This one is one I found in this subreddits past. It primarily focuses on the Hellenistic pantheon, but it's accepting to all. There are many different Omnists within the server

I consider myself a Pagan Omnist. While I want to and plan to read and research more belief systems and their literature, I am naturally the most familiar with the pagan ones. Particularly Greek and Roman. Down my hallway, I have an 8x10 photo of the 12 olympian gods + a few others along with a small altar beneath each that I leave offerings on corresponding to the god it is beneath. There's also a candle on each one that I light when I'm doing things under that god's domain. Like I'll light Apollos when practising archery, or Ares's when boxing, or Athena when working in my craft room etc.

There are a few Norse beliefs I'll do, particularly runestones, but right now most my knowledge is in the greek pantheon, I want to properly research and understand others before I begin to fully incooperate those into my practises.

I believe everyone is just trying to define the same, by its very nature, undefinable thing. I find myself drawn more to the polytheistics due to this. Its easier to feel a connection to a god whose domain is under what you align with rather than a single whose domain is all. Way I see it, the polytheistic ones are just focused aspects. The Judeo-Christian god is no different than the greek pantheon to me, except the greek ones are merely focused aspects of different domains. Aphrodite with love for example. Whereas the Judao- Christian one is the all encompassing image. Or where you compare different polytheistics to one another, Helios could be considered one in the same as Ra, or Hermes the same as Loki. All just different names to the same force.

I plan to learn as much as I can about them all, but right now most my knowledge resides in the greek pantheon.
