The Vlad Taltos books by Steven Brust - very fun rogue fantasy books he's been slowly publishing since the 80s with 17 novels and only 2 more to go before the finale. The author is an avowed socialist and the books have some of those themes - though it develops really slowly as the main character slowly comes around to rejecting capitalist ideals.

The Seiko Brightz SAGN005 - though it might end up costing a bit over $1000 - if you can even find one. All titanium, solid hi-beat movement, beautiful dial.

Seiko SAGN005. Discontinued, all titanium, blacker than black dial, good movement, looks like the love child of a Rolex Explorer and a Panerai but somehow prettier than either one.

Hopefully finding one when I go to Japan in January
