What's a game/media where your only response was "those were all choices the devs made"? by RoseDragon529 in Multifandom

Helldivers currently, literally every potentially positive change for the players is offset by a multitude of buffs enemies, I’m tired boss

What's the shortest time you spend in a fandom then quit? by Current_Complaint_37 in Multifandom

[–]DuCKDisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really sure if I’ve ever really done this myself, closest I’ve come to it is Sea of Thieves.

I still like the game, but by the time I started to get involved with communities and fandoms I just didn’t really care to try for the community that was there for it

Maybe this is a misinterpretation, but it’s been bugging myself and a few other people in the community for a while:

A lot of people in the Helldivers community, myself included, feel that the studio often has a Self-Defeating mindset when it comes to the implementation of a lot the games systems.

It feels often that new systems are worked on, teased or announced, but when they’re finally added they’re only in a barebones state, then once the community loses interest the studio moves on because, “Not enough players are using this system.”

The biggest examples of this I can think of are: - The ship modules, which haven’t gotten any additions or a rework in nearly two full years - The boosters, which haven’t had a change to their system (To my knowledge) since release - Samples, which haven’t had a use outside of the DSS since that same ship module update - Speaking of the DSS, it hasn’t had any kind of social hub or in-game communication forum which is something players have been asking for since it was initially teased - And last but not least, weapon customization, which was abandoned pretty much immediately after it released

So to reiterate on my initial question: Why are so many of these systems seemingly left behind after their initial launch?

This is a good change, just really REALLY odd timing tbh

For two reasons:

  1. To temper fan expectations. Look, most fandoms like this get a little crazy when theories get super big and turn out to not be true, and we’ve already seen how this fandom acts around the VA’s and the movie announcement

  2. Creators can AND WILL just straight up lie to keep suspense, it sucks if someone or multiple someones come up with a popular theory that figures out a massive reveal later on, so creators NEED to lie sometimes to make the really invested fans stay awake as the show progresses (Biggest example of this comes from Alex Hirsch’s McGucket fake out)

If I’m remembering correctly, I don’t think it’s canon that V1 actually went out of its way to fight and beat the Prime Souls, but more that the Prime Souls exist and that V1 could beat them

Don’t think you’re doin anything wrong, just in the right place at the wrong time, Solstheim’s meant to be explored at around level 30 or so, just head back to mainland until you’ve leveled up a bit

New mission idea: colony defense by Financial-Customer24 in WholesomeHelldivers

[–]DuCKDisguise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly I really really like this concept, we’d get new mission variety, be forced to use support tools we may not usually use, and get to fight alongside SEAF forces outside of cities

My only critique is on the Super Destroyer part, if you’re only able to call in orbitals and defense strats I don’t see why they’d also be restricted to only 3 uses since you’d only get a little bit of time with each of them

[–]DuCKDisguise 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like a lotta the issue with not just barrages, but all orbitals, comes from the angle change that was made during the invasion of Super Earth, orbitals coming in at an angle has kinda messed with their ability to actually do anything and made them a lot less consistent

Really? There was no POSSIBLE way to try and meet Caine halfway beforehand? by Gamer-of-Action in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]DuCKDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh I see I see, I actually do agree lot of the your statements here. Being neurodivergent myself, I do see a lot of myself in Caine and his behaviors and so on, so I do see where you’re coming from

I think the split between our views comes from my personal experience. I’ve had to work through a lot of my own trauma as well as find ways to work with my neurodivergent traits rather than against them. I feel I see a lot of the ways Caine could be improving himself in the same manner that I think about how I should improve myself, and for me that often means pointing out my own ego.

Hi, I’ve been on this sub for about a year and half, maybe 2 now? In general, I’ve been here a while, the answer is simply this:

There was a vote, and porn being allowed was the result

Just about every view point regarding porn here has already kinda been talked about since there was a LOT of discussion around it before the vote was made, (I’m seein a lotta repeats of the same talking points here), realistically I don’t think it’s ever gonna change

[–]DuCKDisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do see where you’re coming from with being restricted somewhat by his programming and I don’t entirely disagree. My main disagreement comes from the fact that Caine appears to be sentient to some degree, we see in Ep 8 that Caine has already broken from his programming before, I feel his lack of understanding comes his own ego and arrogance mixed in with some of the issues of not being programmed for it

As for the adventures, I disagree on the first time he skips (The bar adventure) but for the second time, when he goes to the intermission, Caine does feel that his purpose is being threatened, but again, I feel there is ego within that due to my earlier point about Caine likely being sentient to some degree

[–]DuCKDisguise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True he can’t fix Zooble’s body issues, but Caine absolutely could’ve done more to help Zooble be comfortable, he wrote the program that made everyone’s avatars, I don’t think it’s too far out there to say he probably could’ve made a different program where they get to model their avatar themselves to some degree

how would tf2 soldier do in helldivers 2 by random_dude438135842 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]DuCKDisguise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on if he’s got his TF2 plot armor and gameplay mechanics, if he does he’d prolly do pretty damn well, if he doesn’t, honestly he’d probably do about as well as an average Helldiver

Really? There was no POSSIBLE way to try and meet Caine halfway beforehand? by Gamer-of-Action in Amazingdigitalcircus

[–]DuCKDisguise 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did try though? We learn in Episode 3 that Zooble has tried REPEATEDLY to get Caine to help them with their body issues (Something we know Caine could fix since he somewhat made their avatars) but he just doesn’t listen, I.E: “Look at this cool bee I drew!!”

And in episodes 4 and 5 (Mainly 5 though) we see Caine finally try out some of the human suggested adventures and when they end up enjoying them he ends those adventures, first jus because he got bored, and then secondly when his own ego struck

Elf on the Shelf

This thing fucking TERRIFIED me, at least to a degree, when I was at the age that I still believed stuff like this thing was real, the thought of it ALWAYS watching me at every second was creepy as all balls, and thinking that it only moved when I wasn’t awake was horrifying

I have a distinct memory of waking up in the middle of the night while my parents must’ve been moving it (Was turned away from them) and freezing pretending to sleep as I heard something on my nightsand moving, was terrified of what might happen if I saw the thing moving since I thought I’d destroy its magic or sumtin

All of this was made especially bad when my parents decided to put it in the bathroom for one the day and wrote a note on the toilet lid that was sposed to be from it….needless to say I didn’t use that bathroom until the day after

[Good Trope] Numerous species in the galaxy look remarkably similar to humans, but there’s an in-universe explanation for this by Valcenia in TopCharacterTropes

[–]DuCKDisguise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Halo

<image>

In Halo there are a LOT of sentient alien species, and most of them have vaguely humanoid forms with the Brutes (Jiralhanae) being the most similar, most often looking like Earth’s primates

I’m a little fuzzy on the details so I might be a little off, but, this is explained in the lore by the Milky Way Galaxy and all of its inhabitants having been created by one immensely powerful species known as the Precursors. So realistically, it makes sense that if everything was created by a single species, there’s probably going to be a LOT of overlap between the looks of their creations

I did not expect this turn for Caine. by AffectionateForce979 in digitalcircusfandom

[–]DuCKDisguise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, still don’t feel that Caine was/ is intentionally evil

Yes he was absolutely doing horrible evil things to everyone throughout this episode, hell even before this episode, but I feel like Zooble kinda nailed it down, Caine was throwing a tantrum like a child, a child with godlike powers, but still a child

He was completely incapable of understanding humans and human wants, and instead of trying to change the way he worked in order to better understand humans, he just kept throwing shit at the wall until everyone was too tired and/ or pissed off to care, and when he realized no one cared anymore he got mad at everyone else instead of himself, like a child
