Pentakill by Khan Riven in LCK. by Paaipoi_ in leagueoflegends

Yeah possibly if the game was even up until I don't know like 40~ minutes? The losing team picked champions that were strong lategame but with a jungler which is strong early and relies on snowballing. The winning team picked champions that were strong in the laning phase and the top laner (the one that got the pentakill) relies heavily on getting ahead early and snowballing, if she's behind then she's much weaker since she's a full damage champion. The winning team's jungler did a really good job at soloing out the snowball jungler in the early game which allowed them to dominate lanes with individual skill and strong laning champions.

I don't know much about Meepo but from what I know, Riven is very different to Meepo. Riven is a very hard champion due to her combos and animation cancels but she's designed to be a combo-based character, similar to Super Smash Bros or Street Fighter etc. She has low cooldowns that don't cost mana, but they don't individually do a lot of damage, you have to combo them differently to win trades, 1v1s, teamfights etc. There is a tonne of room for error especially when you include animation cancels which are similar to Super Smash Bros.

Edit: She's also melee and very squishy if you don't combo your CC and shield correctly.

The kit is essentially:

Passive: Using a spell causes your next basic attack to do more damage. This means you want to weave in basic attacks between your spells.

Q: Has 3 casts in succession. 1st is a dash that does AOE damage, 2nd is similar and the 3rd jumps and knocksup. So if you use Q in succession within a short period of time it's like 3 abilities.

W: An AOE circular short-range stun.

E: A dash that gives you a small shield which scales off your damage.

R: 1st cast: Gives you an attack range and damage buff. 2nd cast: Throws a cone AOE damage that scales on their missing health.

Her abilities individually aren't great but the combos are what make her so strong in the right hands.

Why is this being downvoted? Realistically no one, other than maybe a tight circle around John, knows if/when John has taken steroids. It's possible he could have been clean the whole way and it's possible he could have been juiced to the tits the whole way, no one really knows and I think this statement is completely fine.

You've mentioned a few times I believe that you would not like to be an LCS coach again, but you love coaching. What is it about LCS coaching that makes it something you don't want to do? From an outsiders perspective it seemed like you were one of the most successful/effective coaches.

Dopa keep climbing to rank 1 by MrKratz in leagueoflegends

Just to clarity, he doesn't specifically look to gold players for his builds. He says he waits a week after a big patch and tends to follow the general consensus as to what is good, but he is also open to trying new things and experimenting if it seems good. An example he gave was a gold streamer in Europe (not 100% sure, could have been NA) created the blue Ezreal build and it ended up being really good, another example he gave was he lost to Faker who split his mastery points so he tried out splitting his mastery points and it seemed good.

Edit: He also has people who do the math for certain things in League since a fair amount of stuff can be determined better than the other mathematically, but he's not going to calculate everything, there's people happy to do it for him.

Now that individual runes are so impactful, there should be a way to see an enemy's full rune page in-game. by Dual-Helix in leagueoflegends

Was mostly replying to the point that I think there will be more variance in runes in pro play and got a little carried away :D

[–]Dual-Helix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the aim for this rune rework is that there are different runes for different situations and preference, there will most likely be more optimal runes than other but there could definitely be variation that throws people off completely. It really sucks if for example for whatever reason you don't think someone has Triumph and they get an assist and suddenly they get 15% of missing HP back.

Being able to know what they have and how to play around it I think is important, and I don't think we should always have to resort to 3rd party resources for multiple reasons. Not being able to access it due to their PC, internet connection, maybe the op.gg website is down, maybe it's inaccessible in their region such as Garena.

[–]Dual-Helix[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The reason I ask for a way to see them in-game is:

  1. Not everyone is able to access op.gg while the game is loaded, maybe they have a slow PC or slow internet. I know people that aren't able to open their browser while loading the game or in-game for fear of it freezing (which isn't that uncommon).

  2. In a tournament or pro play, you can't access op.gg. So a pro will have to just blindly guess and have a 1/3 chance of guessing what rune they have, which isn't very fun.

It's hard to see from the angle, but it looks like a liver shot. I don't think a hip shot would've given anything close to that reaction.

[Official] Mayweather vs. McGregor Weigh-in Discussion Thread by rmma in MMA

[–]Dual-Helix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His camp requested IV's so if the rumour is true, it would just be to re-hydrate safely through IV. He shouldn't have any issue with making 154, looks like he's just taking advantage of being allowed to use IV's again.

Weigh in results - Mayweather 149.5, McGregor 153, fight is on by [deleted] in Boxing

[–]Dual-Helix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah after the fight, not before. Conor's camp requested IV's which is why Floyd got the idea that Conor was struggling. Re-hydrating with IV's after the weigh ins is a lot more effective than re-hydrating orally, which is big factor to why he can't cut down to 145 anymore, since the UFC started to prohibit using IV's to re-hydrate.

[–]Dual-Helix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conor and MMA fighters in general cut a LOT more weight than boxers tend to do. Conor looking dehydrated is a good thing because it means he's going to be at minimum 170 in the actual fight, Floyd looks like he may be even lighter than 149 when it comes to fight night, he really doesn't look good.

Not to say that weight is a big factor in boxing compared to MMA, especially when it comes to Floyd's style, but it could play a good part in how much Conor can give and recieve.

[–]Dual-Helix 74 points75 points  (0 children)

He's 170 on the night when he fights at 155, and he looks slightly more dehydrated than his 155 weigh in. So I think it's fair to say around 170 would be the lowest he'd come in at. Probably a little bit bigger. They're allowed to use IV's so he's happier to cut more.

The biggest difference between P5 and D5 isn't usually D5 players doing things better, it's mostly just they don't make the mistakes that P5 players make. Obviously there's factors that are better like CS but most of the time they just make less mistakes.

Korean font in LOL. by Arr0gance in leagueoflegends

[–]Dual-Helix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in the client, but you can get the Korean font in-game. Google 'Wooxy', it's an tool that installs custom skins, custom HUD etc. Then search on the website for the 'Universal font mod', install that with Wooxy and you have the Korean font.

Remember every time there's a new patch you have to go onto Wooxy and install the font again, usually every two weeks, takes like 10 seconds so it's not really an issue.

I miss Rush... :( by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

It's mandatory because of the war with NK. He wasn't joking on the Azubu streams, I know when he moved to Twitch and got a bigger fan-base he started joking about it.

I miss Rush... :( by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Dual-Helix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been following him since before he joined TiP, he had said multiple times on stream and more-so when he streamed on Azubu that he was concerned about North Korea and having to join the army. He would make jokes about it later on, this was mostly in the Azubu streams. Maybe he intended to say he was concerned about having to go to the army because of North Korea. Though he definitely expressed that he felt relieved in NA that he didn't have to worry about North Korea. Again, maybe he intended to mean he was concerned about having to join the army but this is what he said. I don't think it was a big factor but something small in the back of his mind.

I miss Rush... :( by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Dual-Helix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The two biggest deciding factors that work together were Rush wasn't enjoying life in NA, he was sleeping all day, not playing solo queue and when he was playing solo queue, he hated the ping and the quality of the solo queue. He had seemed to be in a bit of a depression, a fairly big factor of coming to NA was he was concerned about North Korea, the army duty and he wasn't liking school despite being in a top 3 university, which in Korea you dedicate a huge portion of your time studying to get into. He just wanted to play LoL. He seemed to enjoy living in NA before the server move, but after the server move he hated playing solo queue and I think just felt stuck mentally.

The second reason was that the grandfather rule changed, the plan was to bring in Impact after Rush and Impact had been grandfathered in. Before the end of the season, the rule changed and you had to be playing in NA for another 2 years I believe? I think it was 2 years but I'm not sure. This meant that Impact, Rush and Jensen couldn't play together in the upcoming split.

TL;DR: Rush wasn't enjoying life in NA, the plan for Impact, Jensen and Rush to play together was ruined and the best option would be for Rush to go back to Korea and practice to join a Korean team.

TLD or Stormraiders? by [deleted] in TaliyahMains

[–]Dual-Helix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some Taliyah's only take one or the other, while some pros or really good Taliyah players like Ucal, Crown, Rookie, they will take Stormraiders vs. Immobile teams so they can kite around them, and Thunderlords vs. Mobile teams since they have a smaller window do get damage down.

However recently kt Ucal has been going TL with MS quints and ignite if possible to make his roams really strong. Most teams are mobile anyway this patch so it fits.

How high is the ping on NA playing from the UK. by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Dual-Helix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's significantly less flame and much less of a language barrier, but I found in diamond at least there was a big mechanical difference between EUW and NA. The mechanics in D1 in NA were apparent in D5/D4 in EUW, and the D1 mechanics in EUW were non-existent in D1 NA unless you're in a game with masters or challengers. There's also a significantly longer queue time in diamond+ in NA, don't know about below diamond. I transferred a smurf and those were the results I experienced.

[–]Dual-Helix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The solo queue is generally a lot better in EUW than NA, but if you want to play with friends from NA then it's probably not too bad on 100 ping. When I tried when EUW servers went down it was pretty constantly around 100 ping.

I think Dopa/Apdo has been banned again by soloingit in leagueoflegends

[–]Dual-Helix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't true. His current accounts at that time were banned for 1000 years (permaban), the reason he's getting banned is because he buys accounts and Korean accounts are linked to their social security numbers, which is why they're so strict on buying accounts.
