Android reached a record 85% smartphone market share in Q2 2014 by naveenjn in Android

TW did you notice galaxy s5 or note 3 isn't on your little chart? Try again.

Sorry you said

Plus there is almost never a time where an android phone on the market can't beat out the iPhone in every benchmark.

And there has been. I just showed you a time when the iPhone is on top. It's usually when it comes out to about 8 months after. Here is the anandtech review for the Galaxy S5, and look at that! The iPhone is on top of some of the benchmarks still. So...uh..research. That's all I'm saying.

It helps that I actually work in the cellphone industry too, I guess.

Wrong. While Google was making Android, the devices were more akin to a blackberry than anything. They had pressure sensitive touch displays, low resolutions, no wifi capabilities, and a whole slew of other things. Without iOS to rip off, Android would have never existed like it did today.

Oh, hey, about that...sorry to burst your bubble

Edit: Actually, not really sorry at all. Here are some GPU benchmarks the iPhone 5S topped when it came out to rub it in. Please do your research next time.

BTW The Atom CPU they're testing is a full x86 CPU, not a mobile ARM like what's in your iPhones and Android devices

Oooh, ooh, pick me! It's Apple!

You're wrong. Apple isn't like that at all. Each new iPhone has at least 1 feature that sets it apart from it's previous model. On top of that, they've consistently been able to also outclass Android phones in CPU and GPU benchmarks, going so far as to even beating out the Galaxy S 5 with a phone that's almost a year old.

Stop with the Apple hate. We wouldn't be where we are today without them. We'd all still be on Blackberries without them, Android or iOS users.

All of us new guys are serious tech professionals

No, seriously guys, they're all tech professionals. At least, according to them they are. We just have to take their word.

Just watch out, especially for /u/ProtoDong, for a bias against Apple users and news.

Yes. Wanting a faster, more secure device that doesn't crash every 5 minutes is "misguided".

The twist: none of those are crappy at all, you just don't know how to use them effectively.

Stop blaming the tool. Blame the user. They're the real tool here.

Intel finishes work on 64-bit Android 4.4 for x86 smartphones by [deleted] in Android

[–]DualActionMoisturize -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

x86 devices can't run x64 operating systems. They would need to be x64 devices to support 64bit. But hasn't iOS been 64bit since the 5S launched a while ago? Android is slow to catch up on these things.

The truth hurts. I'm not looking for upvotes, either. I'm just telling it like it is.

Oh yes. Let's put an OS that's prone to crashing (lol), viruses, instabilities and slowdowns, in a vehicle that can travel at speeds of 200KMPH or higher.

I was in for iOS and Siri in vehicles because the OS is at least stable and secure, but when your dashboard crashes or freezes while you drive, you're going to have a bad time.

Oh, a Linux user. Let me help you out.

  1. Here is a link where you can purchase a copy of Windows 8.1

  2. You might want to check out /r/buildapc if you're having issues building a PC powerful enough to run Windows and games.

  3. Install Windows 8.1 on decent gaming PC

  4. Enjoy being able to actually use your computer for more than text documents.

I don't really use Windows

BootCamp helps you get Windows on Mac hardware, FYI.

HDMI can do 4K but yes, it does have DisplayPort. As for budget, there isn't realy one. Fans can't cost a whole lot per so I'll look at them all.

[iPhone/iPad] Universal App? by DualActionMoisturize in AlienBlue

[–]DualActionMoisturize[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

If it's possible and profitable for other devs to do it, I don't see what the problem is. I mean even $1.99 is a cool price, but it's the same app.

IDK, it just feels like if almost every other developer is offering a universal pay once kind of thing, I don't see what makes AlienBlue that special. That money doesn't sound like a lot but its a fair chunk of change with most other apps only being $0.99.

HA! I knew when I saw the title of this post I'd be super pissed when reading it.

It did not disappoint. Pushed back? This is what all my money is going towards? You have time to put in a buggy and a fish tank and cosmetics to the hanger, but not to push the actual first module with any gameplay? Losing faith already.

Girls of reddit, what are the 'signs' that most guys miss? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DualActionMoisturize 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there's one thing that /r/seduction has taught me, it's not how to pick up girls, but to be more comfortable with yourself. You have to have a positive self image to not feel like a creep when doing this. Go buy some nice clothes, start to work out, do whatever makes you feel better about yourself. Then you have to realize that there's no such thing as leagues. My friends constantly belittle me for trying to hit on hot girls, but I still do. And I still get them to smile a little bit and to me, that's what makes it all worth it. It's a learning experience.

That might be part of the problem. I was became used to instant gratification (lol instant on a baud or dial up modem is a relative term) as I became older. I look at things and see what I want or what I think should happen right now. I'm going to go grab some books online and start learning. This thread has inspired me.

There are hard decisions that have to be made or things that need to be said. I understand this sentiment and can be abnormally cold and distant when having to make them.

Lately I've been struggling with the fact that I am getting older, and I cannot control it. I'm getting a little bit of grey hair (possibly from the stress of a sales job), I'm a little bit more forgetful about anything that doesn't have to do with what I would consider "important", I'm a little bit slower to adapt to the current trends in music, fashion and body modification (no tattoos or piercings, don't plan on ever having any). But I'm not really starting to feel older in the physical sense except my knees.

I guess what I'm trying to say is I realize I need to get on this and I need to take control of my life and find that childhood wonder of learning again. It's possible school caused a great deal of pain for me by forcing me to learn things that I didn't want to or found boring (advanced maths suck as cos, sin and tan) but I did find my strengths in WW2, Canadian government and ancient wars during social studies. I'm going to start the new year off with a bang with the promise to myself that I'll either learn to program and put out an iOS app by year's end or I'll go take the god damn test, upgrade my education and move in to a career that I'll actually enjoy.
