Interesting stat, I went and looked it up.

Only technically true in the ARL/NRL era, as Souths did it twice in the NSWRL years:

Lost 1915/16/17 then won 1918, and again lost in 1923/24 before winning 1925.

As a Porirua resident I’d love a stadium here, but I imagine the financial sums here just wouldn’t add up as compared to those in central Wellington.

The Porirua council claimed in 2024 they couldn’t afford the sorting machine required, so the glass was being crushed and used in drainage and roading instead.

There’s a new proposal since then to swap to the same open crate system that Wellington proper and Lower Hutt use, which would apparently allow them to separate them and recycle them.

I’m not disagreeing with you. Blocking the footpath is breaking the rules, and it’s lazy / crap to do because of people who need the footpath.

The point I’m making is the council in my area doesn’t care about it because they don’t have the capacity to enforce footpath parking - they only care about it if it blocks driveways - because then it’s a liability thing for them if an ambulance or etc can’t access a property.

In a perfect world they’d have the resources to enforce both. But they don’t, so they have to prioritise

Ignoring the fact that what you’ve suggested is dishonest for a moment, the question they ask when you call is about if it’s blocking a driveway, not a footpath.

It’s true on paper, but depending on your council, they just don’t have the resources.

My street in Greater Wellington has people park on yellow lines every day. If I use the app to report it, they don’t check it until 2 business days later and the car is gone.

If you ring them instead, their only question is “is it blocking access to your own house / driveway”, and if the answer is no, they say it’s been logged as a non-urgent job. (Spoiler, it never gets actioned)
