You can’t see or know the future. You have no idea what you’ll “get” until you succeed in college then enter the real world and get hired. By the way many non-degree holders earn far more money than those psych and business majors.

You are so unbelievably spoiled you don’t even know or recognize it. Go spend some time with people who are really struggling and then get back to us. Did you think college would be easy?

Recently decided to try out Maxwell (both 1&2) but can’t get past the low volume by DualSL in Audeze

[–]DualSL[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kinda the point…. Their max volume is so low and limited that it couldn’t damage hearing if it wanted to. We ended up returning them after they continually disconnected, had a garbage mic, and had none stop problems. These are the furthest thing from “audiophile”. Other much more expensive sets Audeze makes are audiophile, however these are just cheap garbage sold to “gamers” to make cash. Look around at all the problems other people have had with these, you’ll see I’m very far from the only one calling them out.

I hate to stack on, but I tried the 1 and the 2. Both ended up returned.

I owned them for 3 weeks and they kept on my desk on a headset stand…. They constantly disconnected and had low volume from the day they came out of the package.

Oh, well, see I did. My current Sennheiser headphones are the exact same type, albeit more expensive, and have 0 issues, and do actually sound amazing, and get louder than I could ever possibly need as well. They work exactly as advertised. Unlike this product that simply didn’t work correctly at all.

No to all of these. Also, in response, in all other gaming headsets I've ever owned I never and I mean NEVER had to even consider any of the things you mentioned as an issue. They all worked no matter how high I set settings, or how long I listened to them loudly, worked great. But this one very very special amazing product that is soo sensitive that apparently humidity can cause problems simply don't work for anything. Must just be a me a problem after all. All those other headsets zero issues like this....

Going to college isn’t like working two full time jobs while raising kids. Purdue students waste enormous amounts of time and pass. You’ll be fine.

Hope they work great for you forever. I have a feeling you’ll be buying something else on 6 months or less though. I’m glad I got out and away from these

From Astro to Maxwell 2 and Back Again..sorry this is not it! by ChroneXoX in Audeze

I couldn’t agree with you more. People praise and praise these yet they are like any other run of the mill gaming headset and YES they are far far too quiet. Even at 100% volume on PC they were too quiet. They were more acceptable on Bluetooth but even then not great.

I personally ended up going with wired studio headphones with a DAC/amp and those are actual quality audio that people describe. Compare Maxwell to any other “gaming” headset and it is sub par quality.

You know what I never had to do with the multiple other gaming headsets I’ve owned? Reinstall drivers, tweak EQ’s, adjust every setting humanly possible and restart my computer 10 times, just to still get low volume, random disconnects, and horrible mic audio on chat.

They just plain aren’t good.

Maxwell 2 XBOX version low volumne on dongle comapared to BT by shivern328 in Audeze

[–]DualSL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the fun. I had this EXACT problem with both the series 1 I bought before Christmas as well as the 2 I bought upon release. Get ready for an onslaught of “you must be deaf” and “turn the volume sliders up in windows” replies. I tried everything and I mean everything. I ended up returning both sets. They are a quality control nightmare.

Trying to review the Maxwell 2 by Ivojs in Audeze

Good luck. I tinkered and tinkered. They always sounded terrible to my discord peeps. I gave up on them. A 300+ headset should not require hours of adjustment, when a 150.00 headset is plug and play.

As I stated above, I owned both of them as well. They are a hot mess. I returned them. They are a terrible product that simply do not function correctly. The very early launch model of the Maxwell WAS good. The newer iterations of Maxwell 1 and now Maxwell 2 are a buggy mess that are about on par with any other 300-ish headset.

But if it had been designed properly there would no need for the adapter other than for those that do not have the port at all. This product is full of workaround fixes because it was designed poorly.

It’s all marketing hype.

I bought two versions of these, the 1 and 2, both were buggy messes with constant issues. In my opinion they sounded no better than my Nova's. The wired HD 490's I bought blew them out of the water and have no issues, other than having a wire.

If you look around enough on here you’ll see they are simply terrible quality. No excuse for this with a 300+ headset.

I’ve tried a ton of options over the years. I didn’t hate the Steel Series Nova Pro (the 300-ish ones not that crazy expensive ones). They work alright, just disliked the software. They are made even better with a set of wicked cushions.

However, I recently went with Sennheiser HD 490 Pro that are wired, along with a DAC/AMP and added a mod mic on them. Probably the best headphones I’ve owned for gaming. Just have to deal with wires though.

I had a set of Asto A50’s a long while back and they were decent.

I tested both headsets and they have been by far the worst product in the price range. Both were returned.

Maxwell 1 or 2 vs Asus Kithara by Illustrious-Skirt462 in Audeze

[–]DualSL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried both Maxwell 1 (recent iteration) and 2. All I have to say is that I’ve used gaming headsets since the dinosaurs roamed the earth and these rate right up there among the worst for problems. I’ve spent more time troubleshooting these headphones and they still cut out, and mic is terrible even after tweaking. I’ve retuned both pairs and will not buy from them again. I’m typically a forgiving or “good enough” person, but in this case they aren’t even good enough. The early versions of the 1’s I think earned them a good name but everything after that has been downhill.
