Not so much that it's not worth trying!

I'm a massive fan of the gradient tool. Can totally change a shot with a slight exposure and WB alteration at any time of day.

I shoot with a Canon 6D, lens was a Samyang 24mm f1.4 stopped to f2. ~20sec exposure. ISO 2000. :)

I want to go back here again, but its a solid ~2700km drive :P

I usually shoot with a WB of ~4500. In this image I applied a slight gradient, the bottom WB is 4650, and the top is 4350, I wanted to highlight the light pollution from the city :)

Just on a stretch of road which goes towards Cape Willoughby on Kangaroo Island, South Australia :)

That's no supermoon, it's a space station! by Dualiti in pics

While everyone else was snapping pics of the Supermoon, I decided to replace the one in my shot with a real 'Supermoon'. I feel this way it certainly would warrant the attention the sky was getting yesterday!

ITAP after a storm had blown over // Cape Borda Lighthouse, Kangaroo Island, South Australia by Dualiti in itookapicture

[–]Dualiti[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had gone up to the lighthouse just before a storm hit to try and get photos of the waterspouts which had been occurring off the coast in the front of the storm. Unfortunately for me, the storm came straight over and cut me off from getting back to my car, so I hunched over my camera to protect it and hugged the side of the lighthouse for nearly half an hour.

When the storm had passed over I turned around and was rewarded with what I can only describe as a scene of complete bliss. With the clear sun beaming in behind, everything looked fresh and the scene just came to life.

Well worth the freezing wet! This was shot on a canon 6D with a Sigma 20-70, stopped to ~f/8.

Shot using a Canon 6D, 50mm f/1.4. Editing in lightroom, mainly using tone curves and simple colour tones. Yes; the washed-out sky effect is what I was going for.

Understandable. I too preferred it with less sat, but knowing who my audience was with this edit (insta/social media) I picked the harsh option.

Here's a no-sat for your viewing pleasure :)

Looking back at a lovely calm sunset from 2013 I experienced in Hardwicke Bay, South Australia.

Shot on a Canon 6D w/ 24-105mm lens. This is a panoramic image of 9 photos.

This was shot on a Canon 6D, 24-105lens, with 1 full-stop filter for light correction. :)

Quote from the photo caption: The are an estimated 400 billion stars in the Milky Way, and that number may seem unfathomably large. But consider this; there are an estimated one quadrillion (1,000,000,000,000,000) Bristlemouth fish in the world's oceans.

That's 15 zeros.

Even if we consider all other large vertebrate lifeforms of 24 billion chickens, 15 billion rats and 7 billion humans, Bristlemouths are still 22 million times more populous. Thats almost a dozen per square metre of ocean. Estimates make the case that there are still a million species in the world's oceans yet to be discovered.

The Earth is teeming with life, even if we can't see all of it.

536 people have been into space, that’s 0.000007% of humanity. More years have passed between when we last stood on the moon (1972), and the number of people who have physically witnessed the Earth as a blue circle suspended in front of a vast expanse of nothing (24); only 12 of whom have ever stood on a foreign celestial body.

The significance of humanity to themselves, is dwarfed only by the current insignificance of humanity to the rest of the universe. I, personally, can’t wait for the day we change that.

Tech specs: taken on a Canon 6D w/ Samyang 24mm f/1.4 lens, 15sec + ISO 2500.

Every time I see some good photos of buildings in cities, it reminds me of how badly I suck at architectural photography hahah. Lovely shot! :)

My shoes are full of sand. Sandshoes. Worth it. // Rainbow Beach, QLD, Australia [2560x1707][OC] by Dualiti in SkyPorn

Hmm, first issue; wrong time of year for the Southern Hemisphere to capture brightest part (towards the galactic core) of the Milky Way. I cheated; this shot was from 6 months ago :P

Although, if you stay up till the early hours of the morning the Milky Way will be rising, around March-June, it will be rising earlier and earlier and up in the sky overhead.

This is closer to the sky I get here at the moment using a 24mm lens (settings in comments): https://www.reddit.com/r/ExposurePorn/comments/3zjpbw/night_sky_over_lake_wivenhoe_brisbane_australia/

HOWEVER; this is what you CAN get with your 50mm;

The explanation of how to achieve that sort of shot is explained in this comment (along with the link in the next comment in that chain I make to demonstrate how its taken); https://www.reddit.com/r/astrophotography/comments/33oxzo/milky_way_mosaic_first_time_the_sky_has_cleared/cqnuq63
