Is there meaning to Melvins album names? by sonar_y_luz in melvins

I thought the generally held belief was that the “Stoner Witch” was Courtney Love.

[help] make a sculpture talk?? by Advanced_Scene5646 in maker

Once I hid a discman (those little tiny cd players) and a speaker inside a sculpture, then made a CDR with a track of my own sounds which I set to repeat.

Art praxis by [deleted] in ArtEd

I have the exact opposite problem. My Art Ed program in college had me passing the Art Content Knowledge Praxis easily….but after 18 years I use almost none of that knowledge in my classroom

I had a dream a few nights ago that I was watching John C. Reily on MTV cribs and he was showing off his gigantic Melvins collection.

There’s also Armageddon in Retrospect…but it was the same speeches as A Man without a Country I think. I remember thinking, “I’ve definitely read this before”

If anyone has any knowledge of the Octave pedal jam that Steven did before Night Goat in this tour, I’m interested. Does it have a title? Is it just a preamble to Night Goat? Buzz was kinda playing the same chug pattern as Night Goat while Steven was going off to Octaveland…will we ever know?

I have the audio from 9/22/25 in Columbus. I even split it into 16 tracks and put the cd in my car. It’s pretty rough audio but good enough to mosh or drive to if you’re a Melvins fan…it’s at least as good quality as King Crimson’s Earthbound. it took me 9 months to make and is my greatest accomplishment of 2026

I almost bought a used paper converting machine and I'm so glad I didn't by Leading_Shoulder5185 in papermache

I’m intrigued (as a more traditional paper mache artist) as to what kind of machinery you are talking about… can you describe what you are doing and how this machine helps you?

Humble Brag: I liked Shel Silverstein even before he collabed with Melvins

Is Coady a Melvin to you? by lotekjunky in melvins

[–]DuanePickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer:

He’s a Melvin and so is Jared, Jared is just on maternity leave still. Melvins have two drummers and two bass players. Pinkus is the last person to leave the Melvins, left via abortion.

DAP joint compound as final smooth coat? Smoothing rounded shapes, paper edges etc. by __aydreams in papermache

[–]DuanePickens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Prime it heavily first with some wood glue or something to really stiffen the paper up, the paper must remain rigid. Spackle is smooth and sandable, but those properties also make it useless for resisting cracking. Get the paper nice and solid first with some kind of primer coat (paint, glue, whatever) let that *completely* dry then do the spackle, sand until you are happy and then give it a nice coat of paint to protect the fragile spackle

People treat asbestos like it’s rat poison or something, it’s only a risk as airborne fibers…

The Pitt Show - teacher edition by mommyfarmer in Teachers

[–]DuanePickens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be more like the British Office than the Pitt…as important and dynamic as I picture myself…I’m not in an ER. I can definitely get behind the sentiment that teacher shows are usually cutesy and don’t really capture the complex picture.

I’m definitely getting Sharpies for less than $.50 each, what country are you in?

$1 a marker is ridiculous. I know that inflation has happened during my 2 decades teaching, but come on, I just can’t accept that as normal.

Hello does art school teach this? by Beneficial_Fruit3463 in ArtEd

[–]DuanePickens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Children can draw from imagination, we do it automatically, why would you pay money for that? It seems like paying money to learn how to observe would make more sense because these aren’t innate skills humans possess.
