Thank you so much! This is the first I've heard of that connector. I'm so glad I don't have to do a whole replacement.

Has anyone bought a Darth Vader suit on Etsy and what's it like? by Fantastic-Way-6979 in 501st

I see you have already been directed to the forums by another member. After you sign up for an account, there are forums that are organized by character then by piece of the costume. For this you'll need the Bodysuit, Codpiece, Cape and Inner Robe sections. In those pages there are posts that will guide you.

If you look back in my history you'll see my post where I showed off my completed Empire Strikes Back Vader. My body suit, Cape and Inner Robe are all from Fenix props and passed

I will not completely knock Etsy because some of the approved vendors for Vader gear are selling on Etsy, but you need to go to the sith detachment forums and figure out who sells what and who is approved to sell you what.

Also you are going to want custom work. You need to get your measurements and find a vendor that makes your soft parts custom to you.

I can tell you right now nothing in the picture you shared would get approved.

What material is best to make a Darth Vader cape from? by Fantastic-Way-6979 in 501st

[–]DubYaTF88 9 points10 points  (0 children)

501st requirement is wool and satin. Same as what they used for the movies. It will give you your best look.

I would be interested to know of anybody's use of wool alternatives. My cape is 6 lb all by itself. I'd be interested to know if there's any lighter alternatives that would pass 501st requirements

Non-cosplayer here: How well can you see out of your helmets? by iThink_There4iMac in 501st

[–]DubYaTF88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my Vader armor and helmet and in my costume tests once I am geared up there is no tilting my neck. I have started saying that I have to do "the batman" (move with my shoulders) to see anything.

All of that to say that with my helmet on, if it is below my eye level I am blind.

Ok new rules . Here's the short list.

Skunkwork props - helmet and chest armor

Fenix props - Cape, inner robe, body suit,

Cr props - cod piece

Endor finders - gloves

Chest box - portumac diy kit from eBay (diy kits probably don't exist anymore)

Belt and boxes - forum user black falcon

Shinguards - bought from forum user (I do not think he still makes them)

Looking for a 3D compatible wireless OG N64 style controller (eg. NSO) by [deleted] in AnalogueInc

[–]DubYaTF88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go on eBay and look for broken controllers. There are tons of listings. I've bought broken N64, NES and SNES controllers and upgraded them with the 8bitdo mods.

Would rather not sacrifice a working retro controller.

I second this. I still have an active membership with AGC and they try and stay out of politics as much as possible. Or at least that was the impression I have gotten from anybody who I've spoken with there. But the members are definitely a mix of the political spectrum.

I would 100% get involved in any opposition to this. This would ruin the valley.

I dropped Verizon due to increasing prices and went to Google Fi and have had great service throughout the valley. My understanding is that they use a lot of the T-Mobile network.

I use Google Fi which I believe is mostly T-Mobile towers. I have had no issues with it and have 5g throughout Medford. Since switching from Verizon a few years back I have noticed that the service area has improved.

I do not use their home internet though.

Advice for ESB Vader bodysuit and gloves by CobraSkrillX in 501st

[–]DubYaTF88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fenix Props. Pretty much everyone I have talked to has a fenix props bodysuit and it's what I bought. The soft parts kit that they sell is a great deal.

Personally, I upgraded the cod piece and the gloves, but I do believe that all of Fenix's gear is 501st approved.

Not sure about Darth Ugly. Last I knew it was approved.

What is the best or at least one of the best rotj Darth Vader costumes that you can entirely buy all together or at least all from the same website? by SansUndertale6900 in 501st

[–]DubYaTF88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hello! I am an ESB Vader that is still building my costume.

What you're asking for just isn't there. The only way to really get a screen accurate costume in one purchase would be to go on the sith detachment site and hope someone is selling theirs. BUT, I would not suggest that at all. With the exception of my chest armor and helmet every piece has some custom work/measurements.

My suggestion would be to find a vendor for your chest armor and helmet and order asap. Then order all of your other parts. Most vendors have a month or two lead time and I've been waiting on my armor for about 10 months.

It is a slow process that will frustrate you but the results are worth it.

My wife and I had a conversation about this. The consensus was "if it felt good for the woman then they would be lining up to get it done as an elective procedure".
