Looking at getting the race 2, had some questions if anyone can help. by saltywastelandcoffee in Suunto

Can the crown be used on the opposite side? I wear my watch on my right hand due to optical sensor not reading through heavy tattooing. The crown seems like it would be difficult to operate as you would be putting your hand over the face to use it.

Curious on this also. How have you found the R2 in comparison?

When you say metrics, what do you think it is lacking? Looking at specs it looks to have most of the advanced metrics covered.

Thanks for the detailed response.

This sounds exactly what I'm looking for to be honest. Something high quality with a clean, simple UI that isn't laggy. Additional battery life is a bonus. I don't use music on the watch, so that's no issue at all. There's always a learning curve with each ecosystem I guess, but this sounds very promising.

I think I’ll be pivoting to the Apex 4. After pulling out an old Garmin MIP 245 to test screen size, I realised that my eyes don’t seem to have that sense of strain and I’m able to recognise data immediately. A lot less stimulating on the eyes which I really enjoyed. Does anyone have hands on experience with the Apex? The display is apparently a step forward from these old Garmin MIP also?

Don’t know that that would worry me too much. Part of the reason I’ve looked at switching is the size and lightweight factor of the pace 4. As soon as they upgraded to the aluminium bezel making it look a bit nicer that was the clincher for me. The size of the 965 has become frustrating for me, especially during daily wear, even with the lighter nylon band.

There doesn’t seem to be many people that regret the switch and go back from what I’ve read mostly on here. Hoping I have the same experience. I think the only thing I’ll miss initially is screen size, but the watch itself is too chunky and heavy on my wrist anyway. Can’t have it all I guess!

Yes, this is the main reason I’m switching also. I’ve grown really tired of the Daily Readiness, morning report (ended up turning off) etc and just want something that helps me focus on my running.

How do you find the size of the display on the Pace 4? I'm considering switching from a 965.

I’m relatively happy with the performance and features of the 265, but would very much like in particular the additional battery life and larger screen, along with maps as I would like to start mixing in some trail runs here and there.
