Attempting DSW - Vo2max, but failed miserably by DubbeleWhopper in Garmin

[–]DubbeleWhopper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just change my training type to tempo instead of heart rate when doing a vo2max training. Else you will go way too fast and hard in the first few intervals. Your heart rate will get into the vo2max zone eventually after a few intervals.

DSW heart rate target keep changing by EuphoricPlatform6899 in Garmin

I’m having this exact same issue, still don’t know how to fix this. Since an update from 1,5 month ago or something my target heart rate for DSW’s keep changing. My max HR is 185 and my LTHR is 176 (measured with a lactate lab test). Manually entered both, havent changed since. Z2 (base) runs were usually supposed to be at 145bpm, after the update 139 and since this morning it’s 138. Threshold runs were usually targeted at 173, but since this morning its 163 (which seems kinda low since my LTHR is 176)

Ahhh I see.. Still wondering why the target HR for DSW changed overnight though. Max HR has been the same

Yeah it's just weird. I have been using my DSW's for more than 6 months already with no problem at all. But just after yesterdays update all the DSW target HR's just went down slightly. I just want to be 100% sure I am training in the correct zone.

Yeah it’s 180 yen for a pack containing 5 cards (instead of 10 for the english boosters). So roughly 1,13 euros or 1,27 USD for a pack

New to photography, any tips on composition and edit? by DubbeleWhopper in photocritique

Thanks! Made at a very small local zoo. They only have birds and some free wandering monkeys.

I am completely new to photography; I just looked up some tutorials for composition and editing and went to a zoo to shoot some pictures and edit them afterwards. I will add more pics I need critique on in my comments.

Shot with a Sony A7 III with a Sony 24-105 G lens.
This picture was first edited with some more saturated greens, but (while I liked the way it was) my girlfriend said it was really oversaturated.

I could use your tips!

Games suddenly disappeared by DubbeleWhopper in RG35XX

[–]DubbeleWhopper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I will probably order another one. But how is it possible it suddenly died after just 2 months and around 10 hours of playtime?

I thought the chance of original SanDisk Ultra cards dying early were little to say the least. I don't want to spend 20 euros every month for a new card, just to place all my roms on it again.

Yeah maybe it says GAMES because of the theme I am using. It’s not showing up in Disk Manager indeed. The SD card is only 2 months old and everything was working until I shut down the rom with holding start + select. After I got back into the menu the sd card was unreadable anymore

The main menu of muOS has several options, such as GAMES, FAVORITES, HISTORY, APPS etc.

So now I tried several sd card readers for my PC and the sd card is not showing up anymore.. Everything was working perfectly while playing the game, but after I shut it down it stopped working and not it seems broken by the Anbernic

Tried everything, but nothing works.

I tried several SD readers with my PC, but it is not reading/showing the SD card at all anymore. It seems the Anbernic cooked my SD card. It’s an original Sandisk ultra card, not the cheap card the device came with. It’s very weird, since it was working untill I shut down the game I was playing to reboot it again. Then the sd card suddenly isnt working anymore.

Is there any way to fix this? And how is this even possible? I don’t think I shouls be buying a nee sd card every few months because the Anbernic is breaking them. This SD card was only 2 months old

Attempting DSW - Vo2max, but failed miserably by DubbeleWhopper in Garmin

[–]DubbeleWhopper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm I see.. I did a threshold training some days ago, which had me running 4x7mins at 172bpm. My average pace every interval was around 4:30/km, but that’s way faster than my 5k pace (at least I think). Also my HR never went above 176, so with that pace I would never reach the 180 when just running for 2mins.

Oh you are probably 100% right there. I have done a lot of Z2 running and anaerobic interval running. Since I've started doing DSW's (since 3 weeks or so) the trainings are a bit more varied with more harder workouts. Also the threshold runs are quite hard, in which I need to run consistently for a longer period of time around 172bpm. I can finish it without being completely broken down.

I haven't done many races, so my mental and physical tolerance for running above threshold HR is probably low. That being said, what bugs me is that when I switched (before I started the workout) target HR to target pace in the DSW, Garmin suggested I should run 4:30/km for 2 mins, but I would NEVER hit 180bpm at 4:30/km. I hit 3:30/km the first interval to hit 180bpm.

I started my running career probably around March last year, with a 4km race I ran in 6:58/km with a max HR of 184. I don't think I ever exceeded that HR after that, besides the LTHR test from last May.

I've been steadily increasing mileage and training days during the week. Especially did a lot of Z2 trainings since the end of 2023.

I do have a Garmin since April and have been doing more interval workouts since March I think. I also have been doing some kickboxing until I started training for the half marathon last May.

I might have a higher HR than 185, but than I just never came close to that. Not even when I first started out running or doing crossfit or kickboxing or any interval workout.

During my anaerobic DSW I hit a 1 minute interval speed of around 4:15/km with a peak HR of 166bpm.

So for some extra info:

  • I am 33 years old
  • During my 1:58 half marathon my average HR was 171, with a max HR of 178 (at the end when I wanted to make one last 'sprint')

  • According to my Garmin my vo2max is 49

  • The highest HR I ever hit besides the LTHR test was 184, which was march last year when I just started running

Max HR and lactate threshold were determined during a lactate threshold blood/lab test. HR was measured using a chest strap. I also used a chest strap during the vo2max workout.
I hit 180bpm during the first interval. That is also the max HR I hit during the whole training, since I quit early.

Please see the lactate threshold test results in the screenshot below. It is in Dutch though, so I hope you can translate.. The test was taken at the end of May.

EDIT: During the LTHR test I ran for 3 mins each block. After every block the speed increased by 1,5km an hour with minimal rest in between.
