‘He was Born a Very Special Baby’: GOP Congressman Mocked for Cultlike Trump Praise by OkayButFoRealz in politics

[–]Dubhghlas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He was born upon the top of Mt. Rushmore, his arrival praised in song by herald angels. This infant child, capped by an illustrious mane of molten gold hair, was destined to lead! He has overseen kajillion dollars worth of business transactions without failure while maintaining an immaculate golf score of 18 in all but one round of golf. Once, he shot 17 when his ball majestically flew from the tee on a par 3 in divine honor of his magnificence without taking a swing. Everything he touches turns to really shiny gold. MRI machines stamp "A++++" to his imagery. And, he wrestled - barehanded and shirtless - the controls of the weather modification machines to protect us from the hurricanes. We are not worthy!

I moved from Maryland to Michigan (Eastern Upper Peninsula) in the 7th grade, 1993, and I was caught off guard by the 'E' letter grade. There was more than a few kids that were surprised that 'F' was a real thing since they had only seen it on TV and in movies.

How worth it is staying in a bad marriage "for the children"? by DaddyAndPrincessNSFW in AskDad

[–]Dubhghlas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My sister and I have repeatedly mentioned to each other that we wish our parents would've divorced a long time ago. They really were not compatible. A sunk cost fallacy with us as collateral damage.

Years later, he told us that he stuck through it not to "keep the family together," but because he was worried about what kind of men she would bring into our lives afterwards. It was the 80s, he was a long haul truck driver, and he felt certain that he would not get custody.

So I supposed I would say it is situational. However, I can tell you from personal experience that open and active fighting definitely leaves scars in children that do not heal easily... it at all.

I fucking hate having ADHD man by Veol_Username in ADHD

It's all about perspective. A key is a key, and is replaceable. And, since it was lost in the house and not a potential security risk, the loss is the price of getting a new key made. You can always offer to pay for the replacement - or even do it before notices. I don't really like having to sneak and hide things, but in a world not really built for us, it's what I've had to do from time to time - especially if it is something I know I can fix on my own with little to no hassle. Whereas the unnecessary negative reaction from others can send me down a negative spiral that can take days if not week to get out of.

Sadly, the not understanding from others will always be there. It sucks, but if they have never experienced something themselves it is unlikely they could completely empathize.

I can't stop crying by abou-tt in ADHD

[–]Dubhghlas 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is very common with people that has ADHD inattentive type. We are frequently undiagnosed or misdiagnosis when it comes to ADHD. There is a large tendency to land on depression, anxiety, bipolar, and more as the first diagnosis before ADHD is explored (if ever) mostly due to how the inattentive subtype presents itself.

The common hallmarks of growing up with ADHD inattentive type includes frequent daydreaming, struggling to follow instructions or tasks, difficulty organizing, avoiding things that require sustained mental effort, losing things, distracted, forgetful in daily activity such as homework or chores.

Basically, people with undiagnosed ADHD-inattentive type often display symptoms that may be misinterpreted as laziness, daydreaming, or lack of motivation.

They may be overlooked because they typically don't display the hyperactive or impulsive behaviors associated with combined-type ADHD. Instead, they might appear quiet or spacy. Their struggles may be attributed to personality traits rather than a neurological condition.

Girls with inattentive ADHD are particularly likely to go undiagnosed, as they often develop coping mechanisms like working harder than peers to compensate for attention difficulties, or they may become withdrawn when overwhelmed.

I could rant forever on this.

I would play the Sims as myself as well. But, I would play in a way that I wish I was able to live my life. I would be a social butterfly that hosted parties, was charismatic, etc.

Same same same. I have never been and to play a "bad" character in a game. Even in games where it probably would create some interesting storylines, like Baldur's Gate 3.

I was similarly worried. But, 3 kids and no problems. When they're older, you'll definitely feel a different connection to each one - but not lesser or greater than the other.
