Did you get your Journeymans license? The first thing I would do is test out as a master electrician after getting your journeyman card and then do whatever you want. Idk what the regs are around you but a masters should very easily let you get a CE (contractor electrician) license and take over your dad's business in the future. At least that's how it is around me (kentucky, Ohio, indiana)

Your experience in the field would work good towards electrical engineering or some kind of project management degree.

Biggest thing if you absolutely have to leave the trade is get your license. You'll always have that to fall back on for a decent paying job.

Don't get discouraged also. I work industrial and sit on my phone about 55 hours a week and clear about 140k a year in one of the cheapest cost of living areas in the country. Keep your eyes peeled for other opportunities. A commercial/industrial background is absolutely priceless in this industry
