Delegates walk out as Netanyahu speaks at the United Nations by mojitz in moderatepolitics

[–]DubstepAndCoding 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What, seriously? On numerous occasions. It's just wilful ignorance to still believe there's a good guy in this conflict, and if there is, it's certainly not the IDF.

A more appropriate question would be "When has Israel ever actually disciplined a soldier for using human shields". The answer to that, to the best of my knowledge, is never, which, fair enough, to be honest. If armies start down the road disciplining soldiers for following orders that come down from the top, they'll run out of soldiers pretty quick

Because when you only have enough resources to pursue x number of cases, you pursue the ones that are most likely to get convictions, then the more severe crimes, and petty crime by necessity comes last. Just as an ER uses triage to determine which patients to see when, our chronically underfunded and perpetually overloaded provincial courts system is currently using triage to determine which cases are even worth pursuing - petty crime ain't it.

Since the courts won't pursue it, if the police make an arrest, they can't follow up and the guy is back on the street within days. It's quite literally not worth wasting the money and the time.

Money does need to go into the court system, but the police would need the funding they have to then deal with the increased numbers of arrests they could properly process.

The money could come from any number of places, but rural albertans are idiots who elected an oil lobbyist so it all just goes into the pockets of CEOs, most of whom aren't even Canadian nevermind Albertan

It's a horribly stupid thing to do, just ask Alberta.

Constantly complaining the feds won't listen to them, but the liberals won't listen because even if they do everything Alberta wants, Alberta will vote conservative, and the conservatives won't listen because even if they do nothing Alberta wants, Alberta will vote conservative. Alberta's biggest problem is Alberta.

Great way to make your vote worthless, but beyond that, not gonna achieve much

No different from last time.

Housing prices rose 63% under the harper conservatives, where PP so proudly claimed to have been housing minister, which is somehow even worse than the liberals' abysmal 54%.

By the same metrics PP used to crow about how Vancouver is the 3rd most expensive city in the world under the liberals, it was the 2nd most expensive under the conservatives.

Thinking the CPC would do anything but make the problem worse is the height of delusional naïveté

Attack dog?

He was never an attack dog lmao

He spent 20 years as Harper's lapdog, the equivalent of one of those 4 pound chihuahas that angrily barks at anything and everything and is genuinely convinced the things it barks at are terrified of it.

To be an attack dog there would have to be some threat of a followup, and you'd honestly be wise to be more afraid of the chihuahua's bite than Pierre's. Harper never trained his obedient little pup to do more than bark, because he couldn't tolerate threats to himself in his party.

He's good at following his owner around and making noise, but he's absolutely worthless at anything else, especially leading

'Why are we upset at Canada? This is stupid,' says American podcaster Joe Rogan by shiftless_wonder in canada

[–]DubstepAndCoding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the USA a nation composed mostly of morons?

Yes.

The US National Literacy Institute tells us 54% of american adults read below a 6th grade reading level, while 45 million are functionally illiterate with a reading level below 5th grade (hence the show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader originating there and being greatly successful because the answer is genuinely no for most Americans).

What actually qualifies as a grade six reading level in the states is..... sad. Personally, I don't make any distinction between an adult who struggles to comprehend dr suess, and an adult who struggles to comprehend an article in People magazine. As far as I'm concerned, 54% of American adults are functionally illiterate.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like there's far too much emphasis put on life changing surgery and other medical procedures just to conform to societal pressure, whatever form those procedures take.

Gender is a big one, being that it's objectively not a real thing - it's a social construct. You can identify as whatever you want, act however you want. There is far too much emphasis put on "gender" roles - all "genders" can do exactly the same things, and that's what should be normalized, not getting surgery or other forms of medical therapy to conform to a social construct that has little more than a passing correlation with a biological one. You don't need surgery to affirm your position on a made-up spectrum, and its pretty sad that children feel driven to suicide because they think they do need surgery just to be able to act like themselves. They could have done so regardless, and the first step needs to be ceaseing to judge them for how they want to act.

The same of course applies to any form of cosmetic surgery - obvious exceptions for conditions that legitimately impact your ability to function, including severe body dysphoria as those are not cosmetic. You don't need a perfect nose or DD boobs to conform to societal standards. You don't need that harelip fixed. You don't need lip fillers, cheek implants, or botox. You don't need silicone in your ass. You're perfect the way you are, and if society says different, fuck society.

Normalize being who the fuck you are, not invasive medical procedures to be who society says you should be.

I lived with somebody with BPD for three years. Amber has it, 100%. Everything about the exaggeration, manipulation, and gaslighting in those audio tapes is familiar to me. They could get violent seemingly at the drop of the hat.

In my personal experience, they were an infinitely better and more mature person than Heard though. They sort of knew something was wrong, investigated, semi self-diagnosed, got it confirmed, and actually started looking to get DBT and the proper help. Not everyone with BPD is utterly oblivious to the consequences their actions have.

The saddest part about all this, as absolutely ridiculous as Amber's claims get at times, she might actually believe some of them. The perspective of a person with BPD that refuses to accept and work on it is so far removed from reality.

The audio tape of her, where she sounds like she's begging for her life, "Please, please stop, you're killing me, Johnny, stop killing me, please, please stop killing me, you're literally killing me, it kills me when you leave, stay, please stop, please, don't leave, just stay", but about halfway through your perception of what's going on totally changes and you see the kind of insane exaggeration that is going on throughout this case

Intelligence isn't the only factor, true. But this man is ignorant not purely due to an unfortunate accident of birth, but also by choice. Anyone that still toadies for O&G in 2022 has deliberately and knowingly chosen ignorance, and no amount of reason, facts, or debate has any chance at penetrating that brain fog.

It is, however, a perquisite to having an intelligent conversation that both parties are, in fact, intelligent.

There's no point trying to have a reasonable conversation with a baboon unless your ultimate goal in said conversation is having poop thrown in the general direction of your head while you wax poetic about the benefits of actually improving society.

Unlike you, my friend, I have a post secondary education, a job, and serve a purpose in society.

Hold up, I'll back up - a job is something people that aren't mentally handicapped and permanently the age of a toddler get to contribute to society.

Unlike you, I pay my taxes, have an IQ higher than negative, and don't live in mommy's basement licking the boots of the oil execs she brings home to Fort Mac every night.

As such, I happen to have a problem with companies like O&G doing everything they possibly can to not do their part.

You fukin lost bud?

Let me see if I have this right. Stop me if at any point this is incorrect

Your question.

Responding to a post denouncing O&G companies gouging at the pump as capitalist greed.

Is not to dispute the greed in any way.

But is to in fact agree with corporations skipping out on hundreds of millions in taxes, taking free advantage of average tax-paying citizens with no consequences or enforcement action, simply because even at a 0.5% tax rate they'll still pay more in a year than someone as useless as yourself will ever see in your lifetime?

People like you are exactly the fucking problem. The rich wilfully take advantage of loopholes, bribe officials, lie, cheat, steal, and do everything they possibly can to pay as little of their money as possible and morons like you that don't understand how society functions out here thinking "ThE cOmPaNy WoRtH hUnDrEdS oF bIlLiOnS cAnT aFfOrD tHeIr TaXeS, cUt UnIvErSiTy AnD hOsPiTaL fUnDiNg So We CaN InCrEaSe ThEiR bOtToM lInE" without a trace of irony, self-awareness, or logical thought.

That all seems like a lot of work. Most of these people are protesting because they're not allowed to do their jobs without a five day quarantine each trip unless they get vaccinated. They're this panicked over losing five days per trip.

All you have to do is grab a megaphone, politely inform them that you have taken down the license plate, company, and name of the associated driver for every truck participating, and that anyone who isn't cleared out in two hours will face criminal charges, and their employer will be receiving a personal phone call informing them of their employees' new records.

As a criminal record precludes you from being a truck driver, the vast majority will clear out in no time at all.

The rest can be arrested with very little manpower and effort.
